Job description:
About the Role
STL Business and Technology Solutions is a managed IT services provider. Our Client Solutions and Service teams keep businesses running, and behind every project is a stream of quotes, orders, licenses, and hardware that has to be right and on time.
That is where you come in. The Sales Operations Specialist reports to the Director of Client Solutions onsite at the Bloomington location and owns the process from the moment someone on our team says "we need this" until the product, license, or service has been quoted, approved, purchased, received, documented, and handed off. You make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
This is not a sales role. You will not be selling to customers, You will be the operational backbone that makes our sales and service teams more effective.
You do not need IT or MSP experience. If you have a background in sales administration, purchasing, order management, or operations coordination and you are great at following things through, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
- Build and prepare quotes for our Client Solutions team and vCIOs
- Managing and maintaining vendor relationships
- Supporting onboarding of new clients or projects
- Work with vendors and distributors on pricing and product availability
- Compare vendor pricing and look for ways to improve cost and margin, including negotiating when it makes sense
- Place orders for hardware, software, licensing, and other technology products
- Purchase and provision licenses, and get the right info to the team doing the install
- Track open orders, backorders, shipping, and delivery dates, and follow up when things are slow
- Receive hardware at the office and make sure it is accounted for and entered into inventory
- Keep inventory records accurate
- Work closely with vCIOs, the Director of Client Solutions, Service, and Accounting to keep approved purchases and projects moving
- Catch problems early: missing info, wrong pricing, quantity or SKU errors, shipping issues
- Keep organized records of quotes, orders, vendor communication, and purchasing activity
- Help improve how we handle quoting, purchasing, inventory, and internal handoffs
What We're Looking For
- About 3 to 7 years in sales administration, sales operations, purchasing, procurement, order management, operations coordination, or a similar role
- Experience supporting a B2B sales team is a big plus
- Real follow-through. You own a request until it's done, not just until the email is sent.
- Strong attention to detail with pricing, quantities, part numbers, and purchase orders
- A sense of urgency. When a vendor goes quiet, you follow up, call, and find another way.
- A reliable system for managing dozens of open items at once
- Comfort asking vendors for better pricing and a basic understanding of margin
- Clear communication, especially over email
- Ability to learn new systems quickly (Excel, CRM, ERP, quoting tools, vendor portals)
You Might Be a Great Fit If
- You like being the person who keeps everything organized and moving
- You get satisfaction from closing the loop
- Following up three times doesn't bother you
- You notice when a number looks off
- You enjoy fixing a process that isn't working
- You stay calm when several people need something at the same time
Not Required
IT or MSP industry experience, technical knowledge, a college degree, or experience with any specific software. We'll teach you the products, vendors, and systems. What we can't teach is ownership, organization, and follow-through.
Why Join Us
- Own a real process with room to shape how it works
- Learn the technology industry without needing a tech background
- Work with a team that values people who get things done
