You are the owner of our entire IT infrastructure — on-premises, in our co-located data center, and in the cloud — and shape it to enable our company to further grow and succeed. You manage our hardware infrastructure and office IT, including servers, workstations, notebooks, and networking. This is a senior, hands-on role: you design and improve our infrastructure, and you carry out the technical work yourself. Your responsibilities - Design, implement, operate, and maintain infrastructure across on-premises environments, our co-located data center racks, and cloud services, including Microsoft 365. - Manage the lifecycle of servers, storage systems, networking equipment, workstations, and notebooks, including provisioning, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning. - Monitor system availability, capacity, and performance, particularly across network and storage infrastructure. Troubleshoot issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements. - Design and maintain identity, authentication, authorization, group membership, and access provisioning processes. - Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and maintenance using infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible. - Develop scripts and small internal tools or services to automate recurring tasks, integrate systems, and improve operational workflows. - Define and implement infrastructure security controls, backup and recovery procedures, and measures to maintain service availability and data integrity. - Automate workstation provisioning and configuration, manage endpoint software and settings, and provide hands-on support for office IT issues. When something needs to be implemented or fixed, you take care of it directly. - At least five years of relevant professional experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure engineering, or a comparable role. - Strong Linux administration skills, including troubleshooting and maintaining production systems. - Practical experience with container technologies such as Docker or Podman. - Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management, for example Ansible or Terraform/OpenTofu. - Solid knowledge of network architecture and administration, including VLANs, firewalls, routing, and VPN technologies such as WireGuard. - Experience designing, implementing, and operating on-premises infrastructure and cloud services, including appropriate security controls. Experience with SaaS infrastructure, such as Microsoft 365, is a plus. - A sound understanding of identity and access management, backup and recovery, and infrastructure hardening. - A hands-on, independent, and structured way of working, with the ability to take ownership of the full lifecycle of infrastructure topics. - Proficient English and at least B2-level German. - Based in Munich or the surrounding area, with the ability to attend the office at short notice when on-site support is required. Nice to have - Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry, including alerting and incident diagnosis. - Experience deploying or operating GPU servers or GPU clusters. - Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for operational automation. - Technology that matters: Your work provides the reliable infrastructure behind software that enables innovation in medical imaging and helps bring cutting-edge research into clinical practice. - Ownership instead of micromanagement: Shape our IT infrastructure and standards, take responsibility for improvements, and put your ideas into practice yourself. - Short decision-making paths: We work pragmatically, collaboratively, and without unnecessary bureaucracy. - Flexibility: Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model let you balance remote work with the on-site support this role requires. - A team that supports each other: Join a collaborative, open-minded team where people enjoy working together and helping one another succeed.
