About the role

Body & Soul is a fine art women's portraiture studio in London. We help women see themselves for the works of art they are, and give them the courage to live a life with fearless authenticity. Born in Western Australia in 2020, expanding to London in 2023. On 29 August 2026 we set a world record, photographing over 1,000 women in a single day. In November we take the keys to our own self contained 4 floor building in Farringdon. New York follows in 2028. --------- Why This Role Is Available Our guest facing team is currently comprised of 13 brilliant women across all roles. The studio team specifically has two full-time photographers and two full-time makeup artists. We are about to release evening sessions (5:30pm and 8:00pm) for our community, which has made room for two more full-time Photographers & HMUA's to join the company. This is an evening-based role. You will work evenings and weekends as the standard pattern, not as occasional cover. We are looking for someone who actively wants those hours and prefers later starts and finishes, not someone willing to put up with them. The role would be full-time starting December 1st 2026 in our new Farringdon headquarters, which we have just bought. For the right artists who impress up, paid training and onboarding may begin as early as October. Our guests are all women as we specialise in fine art & implied nudity, you'll be part of an all-female creative floor team for their comfort and safety. If you want to be part of a tight in‑studio team and push your styling craft to a world‑class standard, keep reading. Your Mission A pure craft role. No sales. No editing. Your job is running three powerful shoots a day, every day.   This role has two equally important parts: the photography, and the relationship you build with each guest. You run three sessions a day. Each guest has an hour in the chair and an hour on set, shooting four outfits. The makeup hour is what we call discovery. You, the makeup artist and the guest are in the room together, and that time is used to get to know her before the shoot begins. You will have up to two pages of notes on her beforehand, covering why she is here, what she is hoping for, her insecurities, the kind of art she responds to and her creative profile. The consultation has already been done. Your job is to build genuine rapport with her in that hour, so that when she steps onto the set she already trusts you and you can bring her vision to life. Most of our guests have never done a shoot before. Your job on set is to direct and pose a woman who does not think of herself as someone who gets photographed, and to do it so calmly that she forgets to be nervous. What The Role Entails - Run three sessions a day to our timing, gallery and guest experience standards - 45 minute shoot, 3 outfits & a nude flow with 75 final unique images delivered - Direct and pose everyday women with calm, grounded leadership so they feel safe, supported and genuinely seen - Present, engaged and part of the conversation during the makeup hour - Keep sets, wardrobe, gear and the studio floor immaculate every shift - Log clear notes after every guest so the rest of the team can do their best work - Engage fully in training: implement feedback, attend gallery reviews and develop your craft weekly How We'll Know You're Winning - You arrive able to brief the team in detail on every guest you are shooting that day. You have read her consultation before you walk in - You consistently ask for feedback rather than waiting to be given it - Sessions run to time without the guest ever feeling rushed - Gallery quality is consistently high, with minimal reshoots and clean file hygiene - Guest scores sit at or above studio baseline - You work well with every member of the team. There are no cliques here. You support others and allow yourself to be supported - You finish your days feeling empowered rather than drained. This work is demanding, but it should not leave you depleted This Role Is For You If… - You want to make a real difference in women's lives - You get genuine satisfaction from hitting tight timings and following a proven process - You want to go all-in on your craft, even if that means long, intense days rather than "perfect balance" - You like clear standards, honest feedback and being held to numbers - You thrive in a high-standard, direct, team-first environment Requirements 1. Two or more years working in the industry. Studying does not count. Studio photographer, weddings, boudoir or luxury portrait environments. Otherwise a portfolio specifically showcasing an array of studio sessions with women, capturing an array of ages and bodyshapes, along with nudes and fine art portraits required. 2. Confident directing and posing non-models with empathy and emotional presence 3. Strong technical skills across exposure, focus, composition and continuous lighting 4. Excellent time management, able to run emotionally intense back-to-back sessions without rushing the guest 5. Open to learning and following a proven process before suggesting changes to it 6. If it looks like a potential fit, we will invite you to record a short video about your experience and why this role is right for you. From there, shortlisted candidates come into our interview process and a paid trial day, so we can both be sure. Due to the intimate nature of our work with female clients, this role has a genuine occupational requirement for female applicants under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. Above everything, unimpeachable character. Sincere Candour. Radical Accountability. Uncompromising Excellence. Craft sits on top of that. We can teach craft. We cannot teach character, which is why your life experience counts here as much as your portfolio.
