About the role

Mavericks Wanted When was the last time you achieved the impossible? If that thought feels overwhelming, you might want to pause here, but if it sparks excitement...read on   In 2015, we pioneered a “moneyball for biotech” approach, pooling projects and promising early-stage research from academia together under one financial umbrella to reduce risk and unleash innovation. This model allows science and small teams of experts to lead the way. We build bridges to groundbreaking advancements in rare disease, and develop life-changing medicines for patients with unmet needs as fast as humanly possible.    Together we define white space, push boundaries, and empower people to solve problems. If you're someone who defies convention, join us and work alongside some of the most respected minds in the industry. Together, we'll ask "why not?" and help reengineer the future of biopharma. At BridgeBio, we value curiosity and experimentation—including the ethical & thoughtful use of AI to improve clarity, speed, and quality of work. This is a global role. Demonstrated international communications experience is required — candidates must have led media and corporate communications outside the United States, across multiple markets and regulatory regimes. Experience confined to the U.S. market will not meet the bar for this position. We are seeking a seasoned, globally experienced communications leader to run our communications function and own how our story reaches the world. As VP, Global Media Relations & Corporate Communications, you will serve as our principal media strategist and spokesperson partner — setting one coherent corporate narrative and adapting it across every market in which we operate. You should bring established, durable relationships with the journalists who cover our science and our sector on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond, and preparing our executives to represent the company with clarity and credibility anywhere in the world. This role sits at the intersection of media, markets, and science. You will lead media communications around clinical data readouts, regulatory milestones, earnings, and business development announcements — U.S. and international alike — working shoulder-to-shoulder with Investor Relations, Commercial, Legal, Government & Medical Affairs, and Regulatory. You will be equally comfortable driving proactive storytelling during moments of momentum or scrutiny. You will develop a dynamic and growing team, supported by US and Global Communications leads. Responsibilities Within the brand & comms team you will: Lead Global Communications - Global strategy: Oversee the us and ex-us communications strategy end to end — setting one global narrative and directing how it is adapted for each market's media environment, regulatory regime, language, and cultural context. - Tier One media relationships: Personally build and maintain senior relationships with journalists and editors, across tier 1 press (ex. WSJ, FT, etc), TV (CNBC, BBC, etc), and digital. - Cross-border execution: Oversee time-zone-spanning announcement execution, embargo coordination, and simultaneous multi-market releases so that news lands cleanly and consistently everywhere at once. - Global issues readiness: Ensure crisis and issues frameworks account for jurisdictional differences in disclosure, product safety communication, and media norms. Build BridgeBio’s corporate and executive visibility - Media strategy: oversee and partner with leads to develop proactive and reactive media strategy aligned to corporate, pipeline, and reputational objectives, and direct your team and agencies in executing it across markets. - Own corporate presence Define how we show up at major industry, policy and business-of-health forums (e.g., J.P. Morgan Healthcare, BIO International, BIO-Europe, Milken Global Conference and Future of Health, STAT Summit, Fortune Brainstorm Health, Aspen Ideas: Health), securing speaking slots, media briefings and executive positioning - Press relationships: Serve as the senior corporate media contact and personally cultivate high-trust relationships with priority U.S. and international journalists across national, business, financial, healthcare, science, and trade outlets. - Story placement: Identify and land the high-stakes media opportunities that require senior-level access and judgment — exclusives, profiles, and complex scientific stories. - Milestone calendar: Own the forward-looking global catalyst and announcement calendar, sequencing news flow in coordination with Investor Relations, Clinical Development, and Regulatory. - Measurement: Define KPIs for earned media, share of voice, sentiment, and message pull-through by region; report insights and recommendations to executive leadership on a regular cadence. Serve as Strategic Counsel to Executives and Spokespeople - Executive counsel: Act as trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, CSO, and other senior leaders on media engagement opportunities, risks, and trade-offs. - Spokesperson readiness: Experience with end-to-end broadcast readiness; design and deliver media training; personally prepare executives and scientific subject matter experts for interviews, panels, earnings calls, and high-stakes engagements in U.S. and international settings. - Thought leadership: Set the executive visibility strategy across bylined commentary, speaking engagements, podcasts, international conference participation, and owned channels. Corporate Reputation & International Operations - Corporate narrative: Develop and steward the enterprise narrative, uniting our science, clinical progress, business strategy, and culture into a coherent and differentiated story that travels across borders. - Issues and crisis: Oversee an international team and network of agencies to anticipate reputational risks and lead issues management and rapid response related to data outcomes, regulatory actions, product safety, patient access, litigation, and organizational change — across all markets in which we operate. - Internal alignment: Partner with Human Resources and leadership to ensure employees globally are informed and prepared ahead of major external announcements. - Talent Development: Manage and develop the evolving team, set priorities, delegate clearly, give direct feedback, and grow individuals and roles as the company scales. - Global agency network: Oversee & direct public relations, digital, and creative agency relationships in the U.S. and internationally, from RFP through engagement lifecycle; own associated budgets and hold partners accountable for quality and ROI. - Operating rigor: Establish the processes, review workflows, and approval pathways that let a distributed team move quickly without sacrificing accuracy or compliance. Where You'll Work Based in Palo Alto, but a global role. Regular international travel is required for media engagements, scientific congresses, investor conferences, and time with regional teams and agency partners. Flexibility to work across time zones is expected. Who You Are Required experience: - Experience leading media relations via corporate communications inside & outside the United States, relationships with non-U.S. journalists, and adapted messaging across multiple markets, regulatory regimes, languages, and cultural contexts. - Experience managing a communication-related function, with direct ownership of strategy, budget, and staffing, and responsibility for managing or building a team — rather than executing within a function led by someone else. Additional qualifications: - 12+ years of communications experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare — in-house, at a public relations agency, or a combination of both — including significant experience supporting a publicly traded company. - Demonstrated track record of building senior relationships with top-tier reporters, U.S. and international, and securing high-impact placements for complex scientific and corporate stories. - Direct experience leading communications through material events: FDA & ex-U.S. drug approvals, clinical data readouts, regulatory milestones, earnings announcements, financings, or transactions. - Working knowledge of SEC disclosure requirements, Regulation FD, and the regulatory environment governing biopharmaceutical communications in the U.S. and abroad, as well as demonstrated experience navigating the approval process. - Fluency with the practical mechanics of multi-market communications: embargoes across time zones, translation and localization workflows, and in-country review requirements. - Exceptional editorial judgment, with the ability to set messaging direction, raise the quality of others' writing, and convey complex ideas across formats, channels, and audiences. - Proven success as a spokesperson and as a media trainer and counselor to senior executives. - A track record of delegating effectively and developing direct reports, while retaining accountability for what the function produces. - Cultural fluency and the judgment to know when a message needs to change for a market and when it must not. - Sound judgment and composure under pressure, with the discretion required to handle confidential and market-sensitive information. - Ability to influence without authority and to lead effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, highly regulated environment. - Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, life sciences, or a related field. Preferred Background International and global experience: - Lived or worked outside the United States — based in a non-U.S. market for a meaningful portion of your career or having led a function from the U.S. with genuine day-to-day international accountability. - Deep experience with media and media training including being an active spokesperson & executive coach - Experience managing communications staff or agencies across multiple regions, including building or restructuring an international agency network. - Direct experience with ex-U.S. regulatory and market milestones — EMA, MHRA, PMDA, NMPA, or Asia-Pacific approvals, HTA and reimbursement decisions, or EU and UK disclosure and promotional requirements. - Communications leadership at international scientific congresses and experience coordinating with U.S. congress activity. - Experience supporting ex-U.S. partnerships, licensing deals, or regional joint ventures, including partner-coordinated announcements. - Experience standing up communications in a new geography — market entry, affiliate launch, or first-time international listing or investor base. Other preferred qualifications: - Advanced degree in communications, business, public health, or a life sciences discipline. - Experience building or scaling a communications function from an early stage, including first hires, agency transitions, and bringing capabilities in-house. - Experience supporting a company's transition from clinical-stage to commercial-stage operations, including product launch communications. - Therapeutic area depth relevant to our pipeline, and fluency with the scientific publication landscape. - Experience partnering with Investor Relations on capital markets transactions and investor-facing communications. - Familiarity with patient advocacy engagement and the communications considerations unique to patient communities across geographies. - Hands-on fluency with AI tools and modern measurement platforms in a communications workflow.
