About Us
Rhombus brings video security, access control, and connected sensors together in a single cloud-based platform, helping organizations protect their people and spaces. Our engineering teams build the software and connected devices that make physical security simpler, smarter, and easier to manage.
About the Role
Build something that matters. As a Software Engineering Intern at Rhombus, you’ll work alongside engineers to develop features and solve problems across our cloud platform, web and mobile applications, or embedded device software.
You’ll take ownership of a defined project, collaborate with engineering and product teammates, and gain experience moving an idea through design, development, testing, and delivery. Your project will align with your interests, skills, and team priorities, with guidance and feedback throughout the internship.
We welcome candidates interested in backend, frontend, mobile, or embedded engineering. You don’t need experience in every area to apply.
Engineering Areas
Depending on your interests, experience, and team priorities, your project may focus on one or more of these areas:
Backend: Build APIs, services, and data workflows that connect devices to our cloud platform. Familiarity with databases, cloud services, Python, Go, or Java is a plus.
Frontend: Develop responsive web interfaces, reusable components, and intuitive customer workflows. Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and modern web frameworks is a plus.
Mobile: Build and improve iOS or Android features, integrate backend APIs, and enhance usability and reliability. Familiarity with Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Android, or cross-platform mobile development is a plus.
Embedded: Develop and test device software or firmware, explore hardware–software interactions, and improve device performance. Familiarity with C/C++, Linux, microcontrollers, device interfaces, or hardware debugging is a plus.
