At Sword Technologies, we support our clients in their digital transformation projects by contributing to high value-added missions within demanding environments. We place particular emphasis on the quality of the assignments we offer, as well as on supporting our employees in their professional development. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a (Senior) Integration Engineer to strengthen our technical teams. Mission: Working within a large international organisation, the consultant will contribute to the design, development and ongoing improvement of integration services connecting a diverse application ecosystem. The consultant will build and maintain enterprise integration solutions, including APIs, backend services and reusable integration components. The role covers the full delivery lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through to deployment, monitoring and production support. A key part of the assignment will involve designing integration flows that enable applications to exchange information reliably and securely. This includes applying appropriate orchestration, transformation, routing and protocol mediation mechanisms, while ensuring that the proposed solutions comply with architectural and technical standards. The consultant will develop REST APIs, SOAP Web Services and integration services using Java, Spring Boot and Apache Camel or a comparable enterprise integration framework. The role also includes contributing to API lifecycle activities such as design, publication, version management, monitoring and controlled retirement. From an architecture perspective, the consultant will help define reusable integration patterns and development practices suited to distributed and microservices-based environments. Particular attention will be given to the security, scalability, availability, performance and maintainability of the delivered services. The consultant will also participate in the modernisation of the integration landscape, helping teams move towards more automated, cloud-oriented and maintainable solutions. This will involve working with Microsoft Azure, applying Infrastructure as Code principles and contributing to automated build, testing and deployment processes. On the operational side, the consultant will monitor the health and performance of integration services and support their operation across multiple environments. He or she will investigate connectivity problems, failed message exchanges, service degradation and production incidents, carrying out root cause analysis and helping implement corrective and preventive measures. The consultant will work closely with solution architects, developers, infrastructure specialists, security teams and other technical stakeholders. Depending on experience, he or she may also provide technical guidance, support integration-related decisions and contribute to shared standards and engineering best practices. The position requires a high degree of technical ownership, with the ability to handle complex integration topics independently and drive them through to completion. The consultant will also produce and maintain clear technical documentation covering solution design, integration flows, interfaces and operational procedures. The assignment follows a hybrid working model, combining regular on-site presence in Luxembourg with remote working flexibility. Must have: - Strong hands-on experience designing, developing and maintaining enterprise integration solutions - Solid professional experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based technical environments - Strong software development skills using Java and Spring Boot - Practical experience with Apache Camel or a similar enterprise integration framework - Strong knowledge of REST APIs, including API design principles, implementation and lifecycle management - Experience developing or maintaining SOAP Web Services and related technologies - Good understanding of databases and common data access technologies - Strong knowledge of microservices and distributed application architectures - Good command of enterprise integration patterns, including routing, transformation, orchestration and protocol mediation - Experience applying DevOps practices and implementing or maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines - Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates or comparable solutions - Experience deploying, troubleshooting and supporting integration services in production environments - Ability to analyse and resolve complex issues involving connectivity, message delivery, application performance or service resilience - Understanding of technical requirements related to security, scalability, availability, reliability and maintainability - Ability to create and maintain clear technical and integration architecture documentation - Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical subjects - Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Strong sense of ownership, quality awareness and commitment to delivering operationally sustainable solutions - Professional proficiency in written and spoken English Nice to have: - Experience with an API Management platform, including API publication, policy configuration, security, versioning or monitoring - Knowledge of Apache Kafka or another distributed event-streaming technology - Experience designing or supporting event-driven architectures - Familiarity with enterprise messaging technologies and asynchronous communication patterns - Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing or observability solutions used to supervise distributed services - Previous involvement in the modernisation of legacy integration platforms or the migration of integration workloads to cloud environments - Experience defining reusable technical components, integration standards or engineering best practices across several teams
