REED Construction, a rapidly growing full-service construction firm with extensive expertise in general contracting and design-build, is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our team. - Assist in leading the project team; takes initiative in managing information, establishing expectations and maintaining quality and cost effectiveness in the overall project - Solicits vendors for pricing; recommends contract awards   - Assemble and prepare complete and well thought-out estimates; perform quantity takeoffs and bid evaluations; clarify specific information and assumptions   - Prepare accurate and concise contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders   - Chases and reviews subcontractor submittals, verifying conformance to contract documents   - Spots business development opportunities; performs follow-up calls chasing bids; helps to negotiate and close deals - Handles multiple projects simultaneously at various stages and locations, applying a strong knowledge of construction trades - Degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited college or university   - Minimum 1-3 years experience in the commercial construction industry   - Able to foresee and circumvent risk appropriately - Ability to collaboratively lead teams; able to delegate tasks and follow up   - Good presentation skills; ability to persuade others; good negotiation skills   - Organized, efficient, and responsive to the needs of internal and external clients What REED offers: - Above market compensation (base plus generous bonuses) - Excellent work-life balance (off at 3pm every Friday) - Plenty of room for quick career advancement - Mentor/mentee program to help train and foster talent - Fully stocked bar including a keg - Outstanding benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k, and discounted gym membership - Company communal car for visiting job sites - Conveniently located in the heart of the West Loop, one block from Union Station
