At Meter, our bet is simple: we’ll use the internet more tomorrow than we do today.
Nearly every human ambition depends on fast, reliable and secure connectivity. But networking hasn’t kept pace with the rest of computing. Many customers have to stitch together hardware from one vendor, software from another, and find someone to install and maintain their networks, not to mention paying up front for a bill of materials that includes hardware costs, software licensing and support & maintenance contracts. The result is a lack of observability across the entire stack, increased downtime and finger-pointing between vendors and partners when things go wrong.
Meter takes responsibility for the entire network: designing the hardware, writing the firmware and software, deploying the networks, and keeping them running. We deliver wired, wireless and indoor cellular networks for one simple rate based on square footage, building the internet into a new kind of utility.
Our Enterprise sales team has been delivering this model to thousands of customers across the globe, including Lyft, Reddit and Bridgewater, primarily in the US and EMEA.
Now Meter is bringing that product north. We’re making our first Enterprise Sales hire in Canada. This person will build a territory from zero. There is no customer base, little brand awareness and no playbook written for this market yet.
Your primary goal is to break ground in Canada for Meter: source and close our first Canadian Enterprise customers, recruit and build the partner relationships that scale your business, and contribute to the playbook that every Canadian rep after you will run.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
In the first 6 months, you will:
- Ramp quickly through sales onboarding and close Meter’s first Canadian deals.
- Source and close new business with Enterprise customers across any vertical with up to 10,000 employees or student enrollment and up to 250,000 residents in a city, from first outreach to signed contract.
- Build Canadian pipeline from zero. Pick the priority accounts, verticals and cities, and develop a repeatable process for reaching decision-makers.
- Meet and, ideally, blow out quarterly sales targets, consistently contributing to Meter’s top-line growth.
- Recruit, enable and co-sell with Canadian channel partners alongside our Channel team to grow deal registrations in the country.
- Land reference customers that make the next Canadian deal easier to win.
- Feed what you learn about Canadian buyers back to Sales leadership, Marketing and Product to shape our ICP, positioning and go-to-market playbook for the market.
- Ensure long-term customer success with smooth handoffs to Deployment Operations, Product and Customer Success.
Over time, you will help shape how Meter grows its Canadian team as the market proves out.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
You’ll own the full sales process across Canada, from prospecting to close. In a typical week, you’ll:
- Identify and qualify high-potential Canadian accounts in our key verticals.
- Book and lead discovery calls with technical and business stakeholders.
- Deliver live or virtual product demos tailored to customer needs.
- Get in front of the Canadian IT community through partner events, local meetups and customer visits.
- Collaborate with Sales Engineering on scoping complex deployments.
- Maintain strong Salesforce hygiene and manage pipeline with discipline, keeping forecast accuracy above 90%.
- Work with the Channel team to recruit, onboard and enable Canadian partners and bring them into your deals.
- Stay in close sync with the US team, sharing what’s working and pulling in help when a deal needs it.
WHO YOU ARE
- You excel at selling complex technical products to IT buyers in Canada, both direct and through the channel, ideally in networking infrastructure.
- In absence of networking experience, you’ve sold hardware, infrastructure, cloud or security, or you’re smart, ambitious and a fast learner who can make sense of an esoteric space with ease.
- You know the Canadian market. You have relationships with IT leaders, VARs and MSPs here, and you know which doors to knock on first.
- You’ve got an impressive track record of exceeding ambitious targets, consistently ranking among the top reps in your segment or earning trips to President’s Club.
- You’re a consistent generator of pipeline. You pick up the phone, knock on doors and use your tech stack (LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, Gong) to fill your pipeline with qualified opportunities.
- You’ve opened a territory or launched a new market before, or you’re hungry to. Being first doesn’t scare you.
- You’ll do whatever it takes to win. You get your hands dirty and get creative to get deals across the line.
- You create clarity out of ambiguity. You’re comfortable working without local teammates and a step removed from headquarters.
WHY METER?
The internet runs the world. Every email you send, purchase you make, video call you join — it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven't changed for decades. They're brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.
We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, and Reddit rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.
Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable businesses to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.
