We’re looking for Civil Engineering Experts with practical experience in construction or infrastructure projects, particularly cost estimating, quantity surveying, tender preparation, and technical document review. You’ll develop and validate realistic tasks that assess whether AI agents can interpret engineering documentation, prepare accurate calculations and estimates, identify inconsistencies, and complete professional workflows. Your expertise will help establish reliable reference solutions and meaningful evaluation criteria. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Design realistic civil engineering tasks based on construction and infrastructure workflows. - Interpret tender documents, technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and pricing information. - Prepare and verify quantity schedules, takeoffs, cost estimates, and project budgets. - Match specified work to appropriate pricing entries, checking materials, units, conversions, and scope. - Identify conflicting requirements, missing information, duplicate items, and omissions; document their implications and any necessary clarifications. - Create reference solutions with traceable calculations, source citations, and clearly justified assumptions. - Review AI-generated outputs and independently check reference answers for accuracy and completeness. - Collaborate with technical contributors to define reproducible tasks and evaluation criteria. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - A bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field. - Substantial professional experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, tender preparation, or technical project review. - Strong ability to interpret construction specifications, drawings, bills of quantities, and contractual requirements. - Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems across multiple trades. - Proficiency with Excel or LibreOffice Calc, including formulas, unit conversions, and budget reconciliation. - Confidence working with lengthy PDF documents and structured data. - Ability to distinguish documented facts from assumptions and recognize when clarification is required. - Strong written English and Spanish reading proficiency for current project documentation. - Excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly. NICE TO HAVE - A Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline. - Professional engineering licensure or a relevant estimating or quantity surveying certification. - Experience preparing or reviewing public procurement bids. - Familiarity with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, or gas installation estimates. - Experience with CAD, BIM, digital takeoff tools, Python, or document-processing automation. - Previous experience developing technical assessments, reviewing AI outputs, or contributing to benchmarking projects.
