POSITION SUMMARY The Manager of Business Strategy & Operations will play an important role in shaping and executing Salma Health’s strategic and operational initiatives as the company scales. Working closely with the executive team and function leaders, this person will help operations evolve for the next stage of growth and build the measurement and reporting that move decisions from intuition to data. This position calls for a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and financial acumen to support the company’s growth and impact in the mental health space. Location: Hybrid | San Mateo, CA Key Responsibilities STRATEGY AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL INITIATIVES - Support strategic and operational initiatives from problem definition through implementation and measurement. - Partner with department and clinical leaders to diagnose where operations need to evolve for the next stage of scale, design lighter-touch workflows that respect clinical judgment while improving efficiency, and run the cross-functional scale initiatives where no single department holds the outcome. - Translate ambiguous, cross-functional problems into defined solutions with clear measures of success. - Contribute to a portfolio of priority initiatives spanning program design, AI enablement, and build-versus-buy decisions. OPERATIONALIZING AND SCALING NEW PRODUCTS, SERVICE LINES, AND CLINICS - Support the operational build-out of new products, service lines, and clinics, from launch through to a steady, scaled state. - Translate each new offering into the operating model, staffing, workflows, and systems it needs to run reliably. - Define what good looks like for a new offering, along with the milestones that show it is ready to scale. - Surface and help resolve risks, dependencies, and execution gaps as offerings move from pilot to full operation. - Coordinate the handoff to the teams who run each offering day to day, and refine the approach with every launch. CHANGE MANAGEMENT AND EXECUTION - Help define how Salma Health manages large-scale change, including rollout approaches, governance, and operating rhythms that support adoption and sustain results. - Identify and help resolve friction points across teams, workflows, and priorities. - Build repeatable systems and ways of working that strengthen execution as the company scales. BUSINESS OPERATIONS AND PERFORMANCE - Define and track the operational metrics that provide the right visibility into performance across functions. - Build measurement frameworks and dashboards that replace intuition with data, covering utilization, productivity, and contribution margin across sites. - Establish prioritization and escalation pathways so that risks, blockers, and decisions reach the right people at the right time. - Translate data and status into clear executive-level reporting that supports timely, informed decisions. - Support the preparation of data-informed board materials that communicate progress, priorities, and key initiatives. Required Qualifications - 3 to 8 years of experience across strategy and operations, management consulting, or chief-of-staff function, ideally within healthcare, digital health, or technology. - A track record of running cross-functional initiatives and operational improvements in a fast-growing organization. - Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build measurement frameworks and operational dashboards. - Comfort working with large operational data sets and the tools to analyze them. - Ability to define and track KPIs across operational and financial domains. - Comfortable taking ambiguous, cross-functional problems and turning them into structured plans with clear measures of success. - Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate across functions without direct authority. - Clear written and verbal communication, with comfort presenting to leadership and a range of stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications - MBA or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field, with a strong foundation in strategy, operations, growth, or finance. - Experience operationalizing and scaling new programs or products. - Familiarity with multi-site healthcare delivery, mental health, clinical operations, and provider networks. - Understanding of healthcare regulations and reimbursement is helpful. - Exposure to AI and digital health technologies is a plus.
