JOB DESCRIPTION   POSITION TITLE: Preschool & PreK Teacher Assistant DEPARTMENT: Good Shepherd School SUPERVISOR: Preschool Director TIME COMMITMENT: 228 – 750 Hours for the 2026-2027 Academic School Year CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Substitute/Temporary Employees 4N   Position Profile: This position at Good Shepherd School exists to support teachers and students in classrooms and during transition times.   Skill Set: - Maintains a positive attitude - Exhibits patience and humility - Ability to communicate well - Willingness to take direction - Willingness to assist the teacher with preparing projects, helping students one-on-one or in small groups - Ability to manage a classroom of children while honoring the teacher’s ways and expectations - Must be organized - Must be punctual - Must have a heart for kids and willingness to shepherd the hearts of all kids, even when they are trying your patience Experience Qualifications: - Be comfortable and confident around children in large groups - Confidence in managing a class of children - Servant heart - Task oriented Duties & Responsibilities: - Taking directions from the teacher - Escorting students to recess or special events - Prepare crafts/table work - Ability to assist in transition periods (prepare next activity, clean up after crafts/activities) - Help set-up classrooms for school - Clean up shared classrooms to make sure they are ready for other church uses - Other duties as assigned Spiritual Responsibilities: - Exhibits an authentic relationship with Jesus made evident by a Christ-following lifestyle - Ensure all actions performed within the context of this job position accomplish and further the mission, vision, and values of Good Shepherd Community Church - Adhere to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Good Shepherd Community Church elders Additional Notes: - Regularly attend at Good Shepherd Community Church or other church in our community that shares the same beliefs as Good Shepherd Community Church - Complete Ministry Certification, which will include a criminal background check, as part of hiring process - Complete a State-issued Background Check with fingerprinting, if necessary - Adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct outlined in the Good Shepherd Community Church Employee Handbook and the Good Shepherd School Faculty Handbook - The preschool staff is part of the Good Shepherd School ministry, under the overall supervision of the Good Shepherd School Principal. - The 2026/27 Academic School year is considered September 9, 2026 – June 11, 2027 Disclaimers: Other duties may be added or changed as needed.  This job description does not constitute a contract for employment.
