Position Summary
The Mechanic reports directly to the Shop Foreman, Repair Services, and plays a key role in supporting repair operations within our facility. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and assembling rotating equipment while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service. The successful candidate will work closely with the repair team to ensure equipment is repaired efficiently and in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and assemble turbines, compressors, pumps, and other rotating equipment according to the approved scope of work.
- Perform inspections and document findings accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Complete all required work orders, inspection reports, and company documentation in a timely manner.
- Follow and promote all company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure repairs are completed on schedule and meet quality expectations.
- Support urgent customer needs and work overtime when necessary to meet business demands.
- Contribute positively to the work environment and assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of turbines, centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, gearboxes, pumps, and blowers preferred.
- Well-organized, dependable, punctual, and motivated with a willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to accommodate business and customer needs, including occasional overtime.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and company performance standards.
- Ability to pass required drug and medical screenings.
- Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Experience working with rotating equipment, including clearances, alignment, torque specifications, and precision inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and repair documentation.
- Experience documenting inspection measurements and repair data.
- Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
- Forklift and overhead crane operating experience.
- Moderate computer proficiency.
- Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certifications are a plus.
- Low-speed balancing experience is a plus.
