Colleagues are expected to travel when asked. ROLE OVERVIEW We are seeking an Associate Partner to help lead and grow HealthScape’s payer transformation business. Associate Partners serve as trusted advisors to payer executives, shaping complex strategy and operational transformation engagements and helping clients translate decisions into sustainable results. They provide senior oversight to engagement teams, build and expand client relationships, contribute to business development and thought leadership, and develop the next generation of HealthScape leaders. RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead complex payer strategy and operational transformation engagements, from problem definition and assessment through strategic recommendations, implementation planning, and value realization. - Advise senior payer executives on enterprise priorities such as growth, competitive positioning, product and market strategy, operating performance, medical and administrative cost, and member and provider experience. - Frame ambiguous executive questions, direct rigorous analysis, and synthesize healthcare market, financial, operational, and organizational insights into clear choices and actionable strategies. - Guide the design of business cases, target operating models, performance improvement initiatives, governance structures, transformation roadmaps, and execution plans. - Provide senior oversight across engagement teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables, effective problem solving, sound judgment, and successful client outcomes. - Develop and deepen executive client relationships, identify emerging needs, and help clients navigate decisions and organizational change. - Lead business development efforts, including opportunity shaping, proposals, statements of work, account growth, and development of new payer offerings. - Own engagement commercial performance, including scope, staffing, pricing, delivery risk, quality, and profitability. - Bring an integrated perspective on payer strategy, operations, data, and technology, partnering with specialists when deeper technical expertise is needed. - Build intellectual property, publish perspectives, contribute to industry dialogue, and strengthen the firm’s market presence. - Mentor Engagement Managers and consultants, build inclusive and high-performing teams, and contribute to recruiting, training, and other firm-building initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED SKILLS - 8+ years of experience working with healthcare payers on strategic and/or operational initiatives, including 4+ years managing others. - Significant healthcare consulting or comparable advisory experience, with a track record leading complex client engagements and advising senior executives. - Deep understanding of payer business models, healthcare economics, competitive dynamics, and health plan strategic and operational priorities. - Demonstrated ability to shape and deliver enterprise strategy, operational improvement, or large-scale transformation initiatives. - Strong executive presence, relationship development, stakeholder management, and ability to influence complex decisions. - Exceptional analytical and hypothesis-driven problem solving, with the ability to translate ambiguity into pragmatic recommendations. - Experience developing new business, leading proposals, expanding accounts, and managing engagement economics. - Proven ability to build teams, mentor colleagues, and develop consulting talent. - Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills, including executive storytelling and facilitation. - Advanced degree preferred; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, responsible digital and AI fluency, and flexibility to travel as client needs require. Salary range: $175,500-$230,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
