Patient Care
Take your clinical expertise beyond the traditional healthcare setting. As a Physician Assistant supporting a remote medical program in Alaska, you'll deliver acute and emergency care, coordinate medical evacuations, and lead clinical operations where preparedness and sound medical judgment are essential.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide.
As a Physician Assistant (PA), you'll provide comprehensive medical care in a remote, resource-limited environment while overseeing the medical clinic and its clinical staff. Your work will span acute and emergency treatment, chronic condition management, emergency stabilization, and medical evacuation coordination.
You'll also provide clinical leadership, maintain emergency readiness, and oversee patient safety, quality standards, and medical operations.
Material Employment Conditions: This onsite assignment requires travel to and work at a remote location in Alaska for extended periods.
Schedule: Clinic hours, with required emergency response availability 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. You must be able to respond within 30 minutes of notification.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver acute, emergency, and ongoing medical care, including life-sustaining treatment and stabilization until evacuation is possible.
- Coordinate medical evacuations, including clinical and administrative arrangements, and provide mortuary affairs services when required.
- Lead and supervise medical staff, oversee clinical practices, and support quality improvement, infection control, patient safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Perform and interpret basic X-rays, provide teleradiology services, and collaborate with other medical professionals as needed.
- Maintain medical records, medication controls, clinical equipment, medical supplies, and required operational reporting.
- Develop clinical procedures, coordinate staffing and scheduling, and maintain readiness of the medical clinic and its equipment.
Requirements
- Physician Assistant degree from an accredited institution, with extensive emergency room experience.
- Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in at least one U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
- Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current nationally accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, plus a DEA license.
- Expertise in acute and emergency care in remote or resource-limited settings, including medical evacuation procedures and coordination.
- Proficiency in telemedicine, teleradiology, independent performance and interpretation of basic X-rays, and compliant medical recordkeeping.
- U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required. Must obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or equivalent Tier 1 investigation if working more than 180 days in a fiscal year.
- Ability to work in a remote environment with limited resources and respond quickly to medical emergencies.Preferred
- Experience in military or remote medical settings, including healthcare programs supporting government operations.
- Experience managing medical evacuations, remote-site medical logistics, supplies, and mortuary affairs procedures.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification through the American College of Surgeons.

Compensation Disclaimer:
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
