We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Scientist II or Senior Scientist to join our Separation Science team at AbCellera. You’ll help build our capabilities to analyze and characterize proteins, supporting the advancement of early-phase monoclonal antibody CMC programs. Working hands-on, you’ll develop and optimize primarily separations-based workflows that enable our team to move quickly and confidently. You’ll also share your expertise with teammates and contribute to our analytical approach for CMC activities. How you might spend your days - Developing new separations-based (LC, CE, and icIEF) analytical methods in support of release testing and product characterization - Generating high quality data in support of method development, qualification, and product characterization - Establishing laboratory workflows and creating best practices for the Analytical Development Separation Sciences sub-function - Evaluating new technologies to improve throughput, precision, accuracy, capabilities, and overall quality of separations methods - Collaborating with CMC technical teams in the form of technical guidance, investigation support, data generation, interpretation, and presentation - Publishing and communicating technical reports on separations-based investigations and findings to support regulatory submissions - Providing technical expertise for the separations team and mentoring junior team members We’d love to hear from you if - You have a PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, or a related discipline plus 2-5 years of related industry experience (Scientist II) or 5+ years (Senior Scientist); candidates with an MSc and significant relevant industry experience will also be considered - You have hands-on experience performing and developing methods for analytical techniques such as SEC, RP-LC, CE, and icIEF - You have demonstrated expertise in therapeutic biophysical and biochemical protein characterization focusing on protein separation technologies, and/or protein analytics in either academia or industry - You are an outstanding communicator and team player, motivated about the opportunity to work with a team on challenging problems that matter - You have familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (e.g. Benchling), experimental data capture (e.g. Empower), and the associated 21 CFR part 11 compliance requirements - You have knowledge of regulatory filings such as CTAs, INDs, BLAs, IMPDs - You have familiarity with regulatory requirements as it pertains to CMC activities for monoclonal antibodies (FDA, EMA, ICH, etc) - You enjoy sharing your knowledge and have experience guiding junior scientists in the lab What we offer AbCellera’s hiring range for the Scientist II role is CAD $88,000 - $110,000 annually and CAD $112,000 - $132,000 annually for the Senior Scientist role, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, an annual bonus dependent on individual and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
