Schedule: 40 Hours Weekly: Monday - Friday - Variable shifts

A Day in the Life 
- Acknowledges that safety is a self-responsibility. Knows the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines. Always performs job duties safely, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques. Plans actions to promote safety. Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to Hospital procedure. 
- Maintains awareness of patient’s condition, attitudes, and limitations. Recognizes adverse patient reactions or conditions and makes appropriate reports to the Physical Therapy Director/Manager and/or to the patient’s physician. 
- Maintains timely and appropriate documentation on patient records. 
- Carries appropriate caseload within the constraints of the general guidelines as set forth by the Director/Manager of Rehab Services 
- Has input but is not responsible for setting goals and budget. 
- Responsible for program development or assistance with the program development. 
- Participates in the quality assurance activities. 
- Has input into staffing, personnel issues, and performance appraisals. 
- Evaluates, plans, and administers speech therapy treatment within departmental accepted standards of practice. 
- Supervises support staff, students, and other professionals in the department. 
- Makes recommendations for change, addition, or deletion of programs, equipment, and supplies. 
- Performs specific department management duties as may be determined in consultation with the Director/Manager of Rehab Services. 
- Organize, schedule, and provide a record for Speech Therapy team meetings. 
- Provide orientation to new ST staff including meeting competency criteria, training for inpatient, rehabilitation and outpatient services including specialty areas. Delegating training as able amongst the ST team. 
- Processing applications and facilitating interviews as appropriate for prospective new hires. 
- Work closely with ST team to organize staffing and coordination with designated staff for PTO time. 
What's Required
- Graduation from an approved school of Speech and Language Pathology 
- Prior clinical experience
- Current Michigan License to practice Speech Therapy 
- Certificate of Clinical Competence
