The Commercial P&C Underwriting Associate plays a pivotal role in supporting the underwriting team by supporting the processing commercial insurance policies. This role is responsible for full handling (investigation, negotiation and settlement) of minor to moderate auto physical damage claims presented by our policyholders. This role is required to effectively manage claims costs, while providing excellent customer and broker service. This individual will begin in this entry level and be able to move into a higher role with more responsibility in future. What you will do: - Contact customer via phone to obtain all required details to initiate the claim - Explain the claim process to the customer, next steps, anticipated timelines, etc - Arrange proper vendors to support repair, appraisal, rental, towing, etc - Document activity in claims systems - Ensure that accurate reserves are entered into the claims systems in accordance with the corporate procedures manual - Review incoming invoices and make payments within the claims system as require - Review information provided from appraisal team - Present and explain the valuation to the customer - Complete all required documentation for settlement and issue funds - Review loss details (including damage areas) to confirm the customer has appropriate coverage for the loss. - May require ordering of police reports, contacting witnesses, etc What you will need to Succeed - Post Secondary education required - 1-3 years Customer Service experience - 1-3 years experience phone- based work experience - Strong Communication Skills - Time management & organizational - Investigative/Attention to detail - Basic computer skills - Negotiation - Strong customer service skills Location: Hybrid role- Tuesday and Thursday in office The expected base salary range for this position is $48,500.00 - $73,000.00. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals. Please note: This range reflects the expected base salary for this role but may not represent the full compensation range for all experience and skill levels.
