You’ll receive respect, kindness, and support from every direction while you figure out how to get it all done.   ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Buyer at Biofire, you’ll own material readiness for an assigned portfolio of production parts as we scale manufacturing. Success means identifying supply constraints early enough to act within standard supplier lead times, maintaining healthy inventory levels, and keeping production supplied through supplier challenges and part transitions. You will own day-to-day supply planning and purchasing for your portfolio, maintaining accurate visibility into orders, supplier performance, and emerging risks. You’ll partner closely with Production Control, Engineering, Commodity Managers, Quality Engineers, and Finance to support Clear-to-Build (CTB) reviews and turn supply risks into clear, actionable plans. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment under competing priorities, and the ability to anticipate how today’s supplier performance will affect tomorrow’s production volumes. You’ll also help strengthen shared planning tools and documented processes so the team can scale and provide reliable backup coverage.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Own supply planning and purchasing for your assigned portfolio, maintaining material availability and inventory within established MIN/MAX levels. - Maintain accurate purchase orders, lead times, and supplier commitments, clearly distinguishing firm orders from forecast quantities. - Lead category-level Clear-to-Build (CTB) tracking and support weekly executive reviews with early visibility into constraints, mitigation plans, and financial exposure. - Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and capacity trends; execute supply containment actions and coordinate corrective-action handoffs with Commodity Managers and supplier engineering/quality teams. - Anticipate supplier risks as production scales and prioritize competing issues based on their impact on production continuity. - Coordinate part transitions and last-time buys with Engineering and Production Control, balancing remaining inventory, yield, cycle time, and excess and obsolescence risks. - Request volume pricing ahead of production ramps, obtain competitive quotes, and track purchase price variance and expedite spending in partnership with Commodity Managers and Finance. - Strengthen shared planning tools and documented processes, including verified lead times, replenishment timing, and cross-coverage with your peer buyer.   QUALIFICATIONS We understand that not all applicants will possess skills that perfectly align with our job qualifications. At Biofire, we appreciate diverse experiences from various industries, and we encourage all individuals who meet the necessary qualifications to submit their applications. While having the "desired" qualifications may strengthen a candidate's profile, we also welcome applicants with alternative experiences to apply. - A Bachelor’s degree in a technical or operational field (e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering). An MBA, Master’s in Supply Chain or APICS CPIM Certification is a plus. - 3–5 years of relevant experience in production purchasing, buying, supply planning, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment. Practical experience in functions such as military, consulting, or finance operations will also be considered. - An understanding of product lifecycles, BOM development, and how upstream planning impacts downstream execution. - Strong spreadsheet and planning-tool skills, including the ability to maintain reliable formulas, validate planning data, and improve shared workflows. - Sound judgment when prioritizing competing supply issues, balancing inventory and transition costs, and determining when to act independently or escalate. - Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with crossfunctional stakeholders - Self-starter mindset - excited to build from scratch, lead without authority, and deliver results that unlock program execution.   COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS In addition to competitive pay, as a full-time employee at Biofire you are eligible for: - Stock Options in Biofire, 401(k), HSA - and other financial benefits - Medical Insurance - including plan options with $0 payroll deduction - Dental, Vision and Life Insurance Plans - with $0 payroll deduction - 3 Weeks Vacation and Sick time (Flex Time for salary positions), and 13 Paid Holidays - Parental Leave - and other family-building, adoption and surrogacy benefits The compensation range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000 /annual salary + stock options + benefits.
