Project ManagementCommunication
CIVIL ESTIMATOR / PROJECT SUPPORT SPECIALIST Location: Remote (Flexible hours; ability to align with Eastern Time business hours) Position Type: Full-time (Monthly Contract) Compensation: $1,500 – $2,500 / month (based on experience) Start Date: Immediate / Within 1–2 weeks ABOUT THE COMPANY We are a growing, owner-operated commercial construction firm specializing in civil utilities and site development work (grading, foundation removal, water/sewer installation, fire-service connections, interior demolition, and site prep). We serve small commercial clients in our local market, typically managing projects under $1M. Because we operate as a lean, agile team with direct communication with key decision-makers, we value self-starters who can take complete ownership of their responsibilities, work autonomously, and deliver accurate results without micromanagement. ROLE OVERVIEW We are looking for a mid-level Civil Estimator / Project Support Specialist to manage our estimating process end-to-end and provide light project management support remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying bid opportunities, performing accurate material takeoffs, preparing comprehensive bids, coordinating with subcontractors, and assisting with post-award project administration. You will work closely with leadership in a fast-paced environment with rapid feedback loops. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Estimating & Bid Management - Plan & Spec Review: Thoroughly analyze civil site development, utility, and demolition drawings, blueprints, and specifications to define scope. - Takeoffs & Cost Calculations: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, equipment, and material costs for Division 2 / Site Work projects. - Opportunity Identification: Proactively monitor bid boards and market sources for relevant opportunities and present suitable projects for approval. - Proposal Preparation: Develop accurate, competitive, and timely bid packages and proposals from takeoff through bid close. 2. Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination - Solicit, compile, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and accurate scope coverage. - Build and manage relationships with subcontractors and material suppliers. 3. Post-Award & Administrative Support - Prepare and track pre-construction submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and drawing revisions. - Track change orders, manage billing follow-ups, and coordinate vendor approvals. - Maintain organized digital job files and project documentation. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS - Core Expertise: Minimum 3–4+ years of hands-on civil estimating experience (specifically focused on Division 2 / Site Work). - Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of site prep, grading, concrete/foundation removal, utility installation (water/sewer/fire connections), and interior demolition. - Blueprint Reading: Ability to read, interpret, and analyze civil and architectural drawings independently without step-by-step guidance. - Software Agility: Comfortable using digital tools. Experience with Google Drive is required; familiarity with Bluebeam and Procore is a strong plus (we are willing to train on specific software platforms). - Communication: Business-level English fluency (both written and verbal) with strong client- and vendor-facing communication skills. - Autonomy: Highly self-motivated with a track record of juggling multiple concurrent estimates and project tasks independently. NON-NEGOTIABLES 1. Civil Estimating Expertise: Proven specialization in civil/site work estimating (generalists or other trade specialists will not be considered). 2. Division 2 Fluency: Direct, practical knowledge of site work scope and operations. 3. Independent Worker: Ability to deliver high-quality work with minimal day-to-day supervision. 4. Fast Onboarding: Available to start within 1–2 weeks. 5. Notice Commitment: Minimum two-week notice commitment required. WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT? - Background in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. - Proven experience managing civil site estimates completely end-to-end. - Proactive mindset with a knack for discovering untapped local bidding opportunities. - Previous experience supporting U.S.-based commercial contractors remotely.
