POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Program Management, Commercial Patient Care Pathway will lead enterprise-wide programs that optimize the patient care pathway, remove barriers to therapy adoption, and accelerate commercial growth by aligning cross-functional teams around strategic initiatives that improve patient outcomes and business performance.
The position is responsible for leading strategic, cross-functional initiatives that optimize the end-to-end patient journey from awareness and diagnosis through therapy adoption, activation, and long-term outcomes. This leader serves as the central integrator across Commercial, Marketing, Clinical, Sales, Market Access, Operations, IT, Legal, Digital, and Product teams to ensure programs are aligned with corporate objectives and deliver measurable business and patient outcomes.
The role drives execution of enterprise priorities designed to increase patient conversion, improve provider and patient experiences, reduce barriers to therapy adoption, and accelerate revenue growth. This individual will establish governance processes, portfolio management practices, performance metrics, and executive reporting for patient pathway initiatives across the organization.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Working with commercial leaders, define and lead the enterprise patient care pathway program portfolio supporting commercial growth objectives.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for improving patient acquisition, conversion, access, retention, and therapy utilization.
- Develop multi-year roadmaps aligned with corporate strategy, revenue goals, and patient growth objectives.
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable programs with clear business cases, success metrics, and accountability.
Program Portfolio Management
- Lead a portfolio of complex, highly visible commercial and patient pathway transformation initiatives.
- Establish governance structures, decision-making frameworks, prioritization criteria, and resource allocation processes.
- Manage interdependencies across multiple business functions and strategic initiatives.
- Identify risks, barriers, and organizational challenges and drive timely resolution.
Patient Care Pathway Optimization
- Drive initiatives that improve patient movement through key care pathway stages, including:
- Awareness and lead generation
- Diagnosis and physician referral
- Insurance authorization and reimbursement
- Therapy evaluation and scheduling
- Procedure readiness and activation
- Long-term patient engagement and outcomes
- Utilize patient journey insights and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and reduce friction points.
- Develop scalable solutions that improve patient experience while increasing conversion and throughput.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary program leader coordinating efforts across:
- Commercial Operations
- Marketing
- Sales
- Patient Services
- Market Access
- Clinical Affairs
- Product Management
- Digital
- Legal
- IT
- Finance
- Influence senior stakeholders without direct authority to achieve enterprise objectives.
- Facilitate executive decision-making through clear communication and data-driven recommendations.
Performance Management & Analytics
- Define and monitor key performance indicators across the patient care pathway.
- Develop executive dashboards and reporting capabilities that provide visibility into program health and business impact.
- Drive accountability for outcomes, milestones, risks, and benefits realization.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends and opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
Organizational Excellence
- Build and mature program management capabilities across the commercial organization.
- Establish program management standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Mentor and develop program managers and project leaders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and execution excellence.
QUALITY SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document product and therapy related field reports within the prescribed timelines and provide any necessary documents required to complete the investigation. Provide follow-up reporting as needed.
- Complete training requirements and competency confirmations as required for this position within the required timeline.
- Comply with applicable quality system procedures/policies and make suggestions for continuous process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field.
Required Experience:
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in Program Management, Portfolio Management, Commercial Operations, Healthcare Consulting, or Strategic Transformation.
- 7+ years leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives within a medical device, healthcare, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical organization.
- Demonstrated success leading commercialization, patient access, patient journey, or healthcare delivery transformation programs.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders.
- Experience managing enterprise-level budgets, resources, timelines, and strategic roadmaps.
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and drive complex organizational change.
Preferred Experience:
- Master's degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or similar).
- PMP, PgMP, Lean Six Sigma, Agile or equivalent certification.
- Experience in implantable medical devices, digital health, patient services, reimbursement, or healthcare operations.
- Experience building governance frameworks and executive portfolio management processes.
- Strong understanding of healthcare provider workflows, reimbursement processes, and patient engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard and custom software programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet, Azure, etc.).
- Experience using generative AI for common tasks like meeting minutes, dashboarding, reporting, communications

The salary for this position will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Salary
$210,000—$290,000 USD
