The Diesel Shop Assistant performs a variety of tasks to assist in all aspects of maintenance operations Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions): - Assisting other maintenance technicians with day to day tasks - Going to various locations to pick up or drop off parts for equipment - Moving vehicles to and from other facilities for routine maintenance - Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment - Perform maintenance on trailers, tractors, tankers and other various equipment - Be able to rebuild/ Repair pumps and gearboxes - Keep a clean and pristine work area at all times - Wear proper PPE as required for the task being performed - Have the ability to perform minor metal fabrication as needed on equipment - Be able to utilize Welding equipment and use the appropriate PPE for the task. - Able to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and work unsupervised at times. - Utilizing a forklift in standard operations in the maintenance area. - Have knowledge on hydraulic/PTO systems used on tractors/ Trailers. - Performs other tasks as assigned Basic Requirements: - High School diploma or GED equivalent - Class A CDL (CDL-A) preferred; candidates without a CDL must be willing to obtain - General knowledge in maintenance - Strong knowledge of industrial electric, pump repair, forklift repairs, and plumbing - By law, you must be at least 18 years of age - Good communication skills. - Safety first mentality. - Physically capable of manual labor and lifting, up to/exceeding 40 lbs - Positive attitude. - Not only a willingness, but ability to learn. - Manage the workload that is put before you. - Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Preferred Requirements:  - Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school in a related field - Knowledge of hazardous material handling, and OSHA training.The successful candidate will be required to pass a physical, drug test, and DEA background check.    Pay starting at $31.00 - $32.00  hourly Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental, vision, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteering and more. In addition, commencing no later than January 1, 2027, benefits package will include participation in an employer sponsored 401(k) plan, to save for retirement. Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.
