About the role
A/B TestingLookerProduct ManagementCompliance
Stash exists to put a financial advisor in everyone's pocket: investing, banking, and personalized guidance in one app for everyday Americans to invest and save with confidence.
Stash is hiring a Director of Product to lead Engagement; the in-app experiences that help people decide what to invest in, how much to put in, and what to do next.
You will lead the product managers on Engagement, on web and mobile. You will be accountable for whether subscribers use the product and stay: product usage, recurring contributions, and retained paying subscribers. You will report to the Head of Product and partner as a peer with Design, Engineering, Marketing, Data, and Compliance.
This is a player/coach role that is best for someone that wants to manage and develop people while staying hands on. You’ll set the strategy, manage 2-3 Product Managers, and lead by example as part of a team yourself.
This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring you to be on-site in our New York office at least three days per week to work with stakeholders and foster team collaboration.
What you'll do:
- Set multi-quarter strategy for Engagement: guidance, investing and banking surfaces, and the habits that keep subscribers active
- Hire, coach, and lead the Engagement product managers; set the bar for judgment, writing, and use of data
- Own the Engagement roadmap across web and mobile, and decide what gets capacity when the team is pulled in more than one direction
- Hold the team to outcomes: product usage, recurring engagement, and retained paying subscribers
- Partner with Marketing so lifecycle messaging and the in-app experience tell one story
- Run a rhythm of discovery, experimentation, and shipping inside regulatory guardrails
- Represent Engagement in leadership forums with a clear story and numbers
- Use AI in how you and your team do the work, and expect the same from the people you hire
What we're looking for:
- 10+ years in product management, including several years managing product managers
- Strong consumer app experience: you have owned a mobile and/or web product people use in daily life, and you can talk about user and business impact with numbers
- A track record on engagement, retention, or monetization, in addition to shipping new product
- You can set strategy and still get into the details when a decision depends on them
- Clear communication with executives, peers, and your team
- A strong partner to engineering, design, marketing, and data
- You use AI in your workflow today, or you are ready to adopt it here and with your team
- Strong experimentation practice and fluency with product analytics (Mixpanel, Looker, or similar)
Gold Stars
- Subscription or other recurring-revenue consumer business
- Fintech, investing, banking, or another regulated consumer product
- Products built around habits and automation
