General Purpose
Serve as the Deputy Lead in Community Health Services and plan, implement, and evaluate health education activities in the Bear River Health District.
Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors of Science in Health Science, Public Health, Community Health, or other closely related field.
AND
5 Years of full-time paid professional employment in community or public health, plus CHES eligible.
Minimum Qualifications: Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of and application of public health leadership skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of public health education models, behavior change theories, and primary prevention techniques.
- Knowledge of health education methods and preventative health practices.
- Knowledge of community analysis and survey techniques, needs assessment, and principles of community organization.
- Knowledge of educational tools and use of the media for information dissemination.
- Knowledge of risk/protective factor models.
- Knowledge of Social Determinants of Health.
- Skills to lead discussions and teach large or small groups.
- Skills in computer programs including Google Workspace, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, internet, and email use.
- Skilled in written, verbal, and public communication.
- Ability to maintain professional standards while enforcing public health laws.
- Ability to mobilize community partnerships, establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other agencies, and community leaders.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work well in team situations, meet deadlines, and provide positive customer service.
- Ability to proficiently use computers.
- Ability to write technical reports, develop curriculum, and make effective presentations.
- Ability to be an active member of a team.
- Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
Summary of Duties
- Lead and empower staff to demonstrate the Department vision, mission, and values.
- Ensure Department strategic goals are implemented into program plans and day-to-day work.
- Serve as the secondary contact for Community Health Services team.
- Provide collaborative input and perspective on personnel, general oversight of program contracts, and other general service area operating procedures.
- Supervise CHS Staff including approve & sign timesheets, approve leave, assure Department policy is followed, approve training requests, provide contract management support to program managers and staff.
- Conduct monthly staff 1:1 meetings, bi-annual assessments, merit requests.
- Attend quarterly leadership training.
- Recruit, hire, and train new staff.
Other Relevant Information
The successful applicant selected for this position will maintain the majority of their current roles and responsibilities. Time allocations will be adjusted to allow for time in the leadership duties associated with this position. This position is available for limited remote work options when approved by Service Area Lead. Wage is negotiable for consideration of years of direct experience.
