Senior Applications Manager
The Senior Applications Engineer is an experienced technical resource for our Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors, providing engineering, technical, sales, and site support to company personnel and customers. The Senior Applications Engineer also provides technical leadership and mentorship to the Applications Engineering team, helping develop engineering capabilities, share best practices, and support consistent technical solutions
Essential Functions
Technical Expertise and Support
1. Serve as a technical resource for complex or challenging applications, providing guidance and support to Applications Engineers and other VSP personnel as needed.
2. Represent and practice VSP’s approach to fluid sealing product selection, capabilities, and engineered performance analysis.
3. Provide technical support, including torque calculations, material compatibility recommendations, and bolted flange connection integrity analysis.
4. Write technical reports, including root cause analysis (RCA) reports.
5. Interact with customers to address application issues and provide engineered design solutions.
6. Develop, maintain, and support internal and customer-specific computer programs, including exploring AI (machine learning, etc) applications to enhance efficiency.
Data Analysis and Reporting
7. Compile, extract, analyze, and report data related to projects, products, and surveys.
8. Pursue and document customer cost savings initiatives.
9. Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
10. Actively review current manufacturing procedures to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Research and Development
11. Perform and document internal and customer-driven research and product testing.
12. Participate in new product development following Quality-determined procedures.
Training and Engagement
13. Present training classes to customers and VSP personnel.
14. Participate in technical association activities on behalf of VSP'
15. Promote the sharing of technical knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned across the Applications Engineering team supporting their professional development and growth in technical capabilities.
Collaboration and Relationship Building
16. Provide support to VSP Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors.
17. Work closely with corporate administration and operations management to exceed customer service expectations.
18. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster a cooperative and productive work environment.
19. Project a favorable image of the company to promote public recognition of VSP’s products and services.
Experience / Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely engineering discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in applications engineering, reliability engineering, technical engineering support, product engineering, or a related engineering role within industrial manufacturing, power generation, chemical processing, transportation, or similar heavy industrial environments.
- Ability to independently address complex technical applications and provide engineered solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Advanced certifications in the field.
- Active participation in relevant industry technical associations/committees.

Job Type: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on the demands of the position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
Travel
Occasional overnight travel when attending manufacturer training courses, supporting customers, and surveying. Required travel may occasionally reach one week per month.
