JOIN THE CATEGORIES SQUAD
Reporting to the Group Product Manager (E-Commerce / Navigate), you will take ownership of the Categories squad. You will work alongside a dedicated engineering squad (Tech Lead, Senior Software Engineers), and collaborate closely with UX Researchers, Product Designers, Data Analysts, Sports Digital Merchandisers, and local Country E-Commerce teams).
Product Vision: Empowering discovery through intelligent, scalable navigation. We build an intuitive, automated, and personalized browsing journey so every customer finds what they need, want, and desire faster.
Drive global conversion and incremental revenue by transforming fragmented local treeviews into a unified, high-performing Core Navigation across web and mobile platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Vision & Strategy
- Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Categories & Core Navigation ecosystem.
- Own and arbitrate key product streams across Core Navigation (standardizing category trees globally) and SKU-Level Categorization Engines (such as our streaming engine Tesseract).
- Align stakeholders across central sports teams, global digital merchandising, and local country teams around shared treeview operating models.
Discovery & Governance
- Continuously identify user, SEO, and market opportunities through data analysis, user testing, and card-sorting studies.
- Establish a continuous and consistent A/B testing process to refine business convictions and identify top growth opportunities
- Balance global standardization with local market flexibility, ensuring smooth migration from local catalog treeviews to global Core Trees.
- Establish clear decision-making frameworks and SLAs for global taxonomy, SEO content guidance, and category creation governance.
Delivery & Technical Alignment
- Lead agile product delivery in close partnership with the Engineering Lead and squad members.
- Prioritize and mature the team’s backlog (epics, user stories) to support multi-level export feed pipelines, batch orchestration tooling, and taxonomy rules execution.
- Oversee key migration milestones for countries adopting the Core Navigation framework across desktop and mobile.
Data & Performance
- Define and track success metrics across navigation channels, including PDP Reach Rate, Revenue per Session, Menu Usage CTR, and Category-Level Conversion.
- Leverage data analytics to streamline category performance, eliminating inactive categories and optimizing taxonomy filters.
- Arbitrate and prioritize backlog based on data driven decision
Product Mindset & Culture
- Serve as an ambassador for product excellence and taxonomy standards across Decathlon’s global network.
- Foster a collaborative work environment based on trust, accountability, and user-centric decision-making.
PROFILE
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager in a fast-paced B2C e-commerce, digital platform, or catalog/search ecosystem.
- Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of e-commerce navigation, catalog treeviews, taxonomy/metadata structures, or search & discovery platforms.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder international organizations (aligning global tech teams, business merchandisers, and country leads).
- Product Methodology: Mastery of end-to-end product development—from discovery (UX research, data analysis, A/B testing) to delivery (backlog refinement, technical roadmapping, release planning).
- Analytical Mindset: Data-driven approach to prioritizing product features and measuring conversion and user experience impact.
- Language & Communication: Fluent in English and French (written and spoken), with excellent synthesis skills.
- Passion: Curiosity for solving scalable architecture/data problems, user-centric design, and a strong passion for sports!
