AECOM is seeking an accomplished transportation leader to serve as Traffic Engineering Practice Lead for Tennessee. This leadership position will be responsible for the strategic growth, technical excellence, operational performance, and business development of the firm's statewide traffic engineering practice. The Practice Lead will oversee a team of traffic engineers delivering complex projects throughout Tennessee. The successful candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with strong client relationships, business development capabilities, and industry leadership. This role is intended for a recognized transportation professional with demonstrated experience in traffic operations, traffic signal systems, multimodal transportation, transportation safety, intelligent transportation systems, and organizational leadership. Experience leading transportation programs for municipalities, state agencies, MPOs, or major consulting firms is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of professional leadership within organizations such as the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and a strong reputation among transportation agencies and industry stakeholders. As Traffic Engineering Practice Lead, you will have the authority to shape business strategy, expand client relationships, mentor and build high-performing teams, and influence some of Tennessee's most significant transportation investments while leveraging AECOM's national network of technical experts, market leaders, and resources. Key Responsibilities Strategic Practice Leadership - Lead the statewide Traffic Engineering Practice for Tennessee. - Execute annual strategic growth plans. - Identify emerging market opportunities and transportation trends.Business Development and Client Management - Serve as Principal-in-Charge for key transportation clients. - Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with TDOT, local governments, planning organizations, and private development clients. - Lead proposal development and project pursuit strategies. - Participate in client interviews and contract negotiations. - Represent AECOM at conferences, professional meetings, and industry events.Technical Leadership - Provide technical oversight and quality control for: - Traffic Engineering Studies and Assessments - Traffic Signals and ITS - Transportation Safety - Multimodal TransportationProject Delivery Leadership - Lead engineering efforts for traffic studies, reports, and operational analyses. - Lead engineering efforts for traffic signal and ITS planning and design projects. - Coordinate with roadway, bridge, drainage, environmental, and planning disciplines. - Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at the highest level of quality.Team Leadership and Staff Development - Recruit, mentor, and develop transportation professionals. - Build and maintain a high-performing statewide traffic engineering team. - Conduct performance evaluations and professional development planning. - Support professional licensure and technical certifications. - Foster innovation and technical excellence throughout the practice.  Minimum: - Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field. - 10 years of progressively responsible traffic engineering and transportation operations experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.  - 5 years of project management and team leadership experience. - Experience managing traffic engineering and ITS projects.Preferred: - Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.). - Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. - Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification. - IMSA Traffic Signal certifications. - 15 years of traffic engineering and ITS experience. - Experience with TDOT projects. - Experience with municipal transportation programs. - Relocation is an option for this position  - We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States.
