How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, the Production Ops Specialist (Operations Coach) provides frontline leadership for a team of assemblers, welders and test technicians. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to direct the daily work activities of operators using effective communication and coaching. You will handle day-to-day responsibilities including time approval, progressive discipline and work direction to meet site objectives. This role will continuously resolve issues through immediate action and have input on both short and long-term planning.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, quality, sourcing or operations, management experience, priority given to applicants who have supervisory experience in a teaming environment.
- Ability to work effectively on a team and serve as a positive change agent.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, able to provide feedback and address employee issues in a positive manner.
- Understanding of LEAN and Six Sigma concepts – quality mindset
- Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn and work as technical expert.
- Strong and effective problem identification and solution skills Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize aggressive deadlines.
- Willingness to take on tough challenges and grow professionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
What will your typical day look like?
- Ensure that your production team operates with the highest environmental health & safety (EHS) standards to drive down environmental & safety incidents, first aids, & recordable injuries.
- Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity (time of product) and quality initiatives and manage the area within budget guidelines and controls; utilize data analysis to improve safety, decrease quality defects, and increase productivity.
- Manage production employees and production schedule requirements to include timekeeping, overtime, time off and discipline.
- Communicate and enforce handbook and other plant policies.
- Provide clear communication and operational guidance to management and other Wabtec employees daily.
- Interface with internal and external customers, define priorities for shift and work group leveraging morning production meetings (and shift change meetings, as needed)
- Actively participate in cross-functional teams, driving a "one team" focus, and demonstrate necessary leadership and coaching; facilitate operational star point projects and ensure High-Performance Work Team objectives.
- Help train and develop skills of production employees; educate production employees on business strategy and metrics.
- Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements. 
What about the physical demands of the job?
- Exposure to shop floor requires wearing PPE
- Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting is all part of the hands-on learning process
- This role will engage with direct staff on a day shift schedule, and you may be asked to work overtime as necessary; due to the supervisory nature of this position, it is not available for remote work.You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
 
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
