About the Role  We’re looking for Director of Quality Control that will provide strategic leadership for RNGD’s Quality Management System (QMS) and quality assurance and quality control programs across all business units, operating regions, and construction operations, including Heavy, Commercial, Trades, and Mission Critical. Success in this role means RNGD has a consistently adopted QMS, project quality risks are identified early, systemic issues are resolved at their root causes, corrective actions are completed, rework is reduced, and leadership has reliable information to guide decisions. This role establishes enterprise quality strategy, standards, governance, procedures, metrics, and accountability. The Director ensures owner requirements, contract specifications, industry standards, and regulatory obligations are translated into practical quality controls throughout the project lifecycle. The Director partners with Operations, Safety, Risk Management, Legal, People Operations, project leaders, and third-party consultants to align quality objectives with business priorities. This role also builds, develops, and deploys the Quality Control team and organizational resources needed to support RNGD’s continued growth. Core Responsibilities - Enterprise Quality Strategy and QMS Governance - - Develop, implement, and maintain RNGD’s corporate QMS in collaboration with a third-party consultant, Safety, the Chief Legal Officer, and operational and executive leaders. - Establish company-wide quality standards, procedures, governance, roles, and performance expectations. - Lead quality strategy across all business units, operating regions, and project types. - Review and approve corporate quality policies, standards, and program requirements. - Ensure the QMS evolves with organizational growth, project complexity, lessons learned, and changing client and regulatory expectations. - Project Quality Planning and Compliance - - Establish scalable requirements for project quality plans and review and approve plans based on project risks and contractual obligations. - Ensure owner requirements, contract specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements are translated into clear project controls. - Partner with Operations and project leaders to integrate quality from pursuit and preconstruction through startup, execution, turnover, and closeout. - Define expectations for quality documentation, inspection and testing coordination, deficiency management, corrective action, and project turnover. - Monitor the implementation of project quality plans and escalate significant or systemic risks to the appropriate leaders. - Maintain clear accountability for quality within Operations and project teams while providing enterprise governance, assurance, and support. - Audits, Inspections, and Quality Assurance - - Oversee quality audits, inspections, testing activities, and compliance reviews across projects and operating regions. - Establish risk-based audit schedules, evaluation criteria, documentation standards, and follow-up requirements. - Coordinate third-party inspection, testing, and quality resources when required. - Evaluate conformance with company standards, project quality plans, contract requirements, and applicable regulations. - Communicate significant findings, emerging risks, and required actions clearly to project and executive leadership. - Nonconformance, Corrective Action, and Continuous Improvement - - Lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action planning for significant quality events and recurring deficiencies. - Establish consistent processes for documenting, escalating, resolving, and closing nonconformance issues. - Ensure corrective actions have clear ownership, completion requirements, and verification of effectiveness. - Analyze recurring deficiencies, rework, audit findings, warranty concerns, and stakeholder feedback to identify systemic improvement opportunities. - Translate lessons learned into improvements to standards, processes, planning, training, and project execution. - Promote the timely sharing and adoption of lessons learned across business units, regions, and projects. - Quality Performance and Executive Reporting - - Establish meaningful quality indicators and performance metrics aligned with organizational and project objectives. - Monitor quality trends, deficiencies, rework costs, corrective-action status, and client satisfaction. - Ensure quality data is accurate, consistent, and sufficiently detailed to support effective decision-making. - Provide executive-level reporting on quality performance, significant events, emerging risks, and improvement priorities. - Use performance information to guide risk mitigation, resource allocation, program investment, and continuous improvement. - Quality Team, Partnership, and Resource Leadership - - Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain quality professionals capable of supporting diverse construction operations. - Establish clear team structures, responsibilities, performance expectations, and project-support models. - Develop and manage annual quality budgets, staffing plans, and resource requirements. - Deploy quality resources based on project risk, operational needs, and business priorities. - Foster a culture in which quality is a shared operational responsibility supported by collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, quality management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. - Fifteen or more years of progressive construction, engineering, quality, or similar operational experience, including ten or more years managing quality assurance and quality control programs. - Experience leading enterprise or multi-project quality programs across multiple business units, regions, and construction types. - Strong knowledge of heavy civil, commercial, industrial, mission-critical, and design-build construction, including plans, specifications, inspections, testing, corrective action, and QMS governance. - Demonstrated ability to analyze quality trends, deficiencies, rework costs, and client satisfaction data and translate findings into executive-level recommendations. - Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management capabilities, including experience building and developing quality teams. - Relevant professional certification or credential, such as ASQ, CQM, CQM-C, PE, PMP, Lean Construction, or a comparable qualification.
