Job Title: Tool Room Technician Location: Franklin Park, IL (Onsite) Duration: Full Time / Direct Hire Direct Client Need Position Summary: - Responsible for the daily repair, maintenance, and modification of progressive dies according to design specs and customer requirements. - This role ensures smooth plant operations by troubleshooting press and die issues, machining replacement components, and safely operating tool room machinery.Responsibilities: - Build and repair progressive dies following strict design and blueprint guidelines. - Modify existing tooling to adapt to changing customer requests and engineering requirements. - Troubleshoot and diagnose complex press and die performance issues on the floor. - Execute tooling changeovers efficiently across multi-part production tooling systems. - Operate machine tools including drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines to fabricate components. - Conduct test runs on completed tools and dies to check for smoothness, defects, and contours. - Maintain safety standards while working near moving parts in a loud, industrial environment. - Comprehensive understanding of proper die-build procedures, punch press equipment, and metal forming processes. - Proficient in using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers, alongside standard tool room machinery. - Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, CAD drawings, and procedural manuals. - Strong grasp of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, and decimals for precise measurements. - High school diploma/GED with 5+ years of related experience preferred, or a TMA certificate. - Physical Demands: Capacity to stand, walk, climb, and occasionally lift or move more than 80 pounds.
