About the Role
BranchLab is looking for a Healthcare Audience Strategist to help design smarter, more effective healthcare audiences using a cutting edge AI approach to modeling.
Today, many of our audiences begin with customer-defined clinical criteria — diagnosis codes, treatments, procedures and other claims-based signals — often aligned to existing measurement methodologies. Our Platform Operations team translates these requirements into executable audience definitions and identifies opportunities to improve them.
We are looking for someone who can take this capability further.
This role will combine healthcare data expertise, audience strategy and customer consultation to help determine not simply whether an audience definition is technically correct, but whether it is the best way to identify the patient population a customer is trying to reach.
What You'll Do
You will partner closely with Platform Operations, Customer Success, Data Science and our customers to:
- Review healthcare audience definitions and identify opportunities to improve real world outcomes and ROI.
- Evaluate diagnosis, procedure, treatment, pharmacy and other healthcare signals used to identify audience populations.
- Understand the clinical and treatment journey behind an audience rather than evaluating individual codes in isolation.
- Identify overly restrictive, duplicative or potentially irrelevant criteria within customer-provided audience definitions.
- Recommend alternative audience strategies when a traditional claims-based definition may not be sufficient.
- Partner with Data Science and AI Engineering to develop more sophisticated approaches using additional data sources or predictive methodologies.
- Help customers understand the tradeoffs between measurement-aligned definitions, clinically expanded definitions and more predictive audience strategies.
- Create clear, evidence-based recommendations that Customer Success teams can confidently communicate to customers.
- Develop reusable audience-design frameworks, playbooks and best practices for common therapeutic areas and audience types.
- Train Platform Operations and Customer Success teams on healthcare data, patient journeys and audience-design principles.
- Help establish a consistent methodology for evaluating and documenting audience quality.
What We're Looking For
We are especially interested in candidates with experience using real-world data to define patient populations.
Relevant backgrounds may include healthcare analytics, real-world evidence, epidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, clinical informatics, pharmaceutical commercial analytics, healthcare consulting or healthcare data strategy.
The ideal candidate has:
- Significant experience working with medical and pharmacy claims data.
- Experience defining patient cohorts, phenotypes, treatment journeys or healthcare audiences.
- Strong familiarity with healthcare coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and NDC.
- An understanding of the strengths and limitations of claims data when identifying patient populations.
- The ability to translate clinical and analytical concepts into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working directly with pharmaceutical, agency or healthcare customers.
- Strong judgment and comfort operating in situations where there is not a single objectively correct audience definition.
- Experience partnering with data scientists, analysts and technical teams.
- Experience with pharmaceutical marketing, healthcare advertising, audience activation or healthcare measurement platforms is a strong plus.
How We'll Measure Success
We will measure the role based on whether it:
- Improves the quality of audience strategies we recommend to customers.
- Identifies meaningful opportunities that would not have emerged through our existing QA process.
- Increases customer adoption of recommended audience changes.
- Expands the types of audience strategies BranchLab can support.
- Builds repeatable knowledge and tools that make the broader Platform Operations and Customer Success organizations stronger.
