Mission – Why we exist and why we need you
Geothermal energy is the most abundant renewable energy source in the world. There is 2,300 times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methane combined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal a cheap and vital contributor to a carbon-free electrical grid. We are revolutionizing the exploration process, setting new industry standards for discovery rates and finding new prospects at an unprecedented scale.
The Operations and Maintenance Technician position is responsible for day-to-day operations, repair and maintenance of the plant and wellfield equipment and auxiliaries of the Lightning Dock Facility. The O&M Technician will follow all safety, environmental, compliance and regulatory standards and ensure full plant optimization. To succeed in this role an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory, accurately and safely. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Outcomes - Problems you’ll solve
Follow all plant safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies at all times.
Detect safety, environmental, and operational upsets quickly and take appropriate corrective action to minimize risk.
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve plant and wellfield issues in a timely manner, recommending site-specific solutions.
Complete required safety documentation including pre-job safety briefings, Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and all site safety permits.
Monitor daily power plant and geothermal wellfield operations, including startup, balancing, performance evaluation, and daily reporting.
Operate site mobile equipment (excluding NCCCO-rated cranes) and utilize hand, electric, and pneumatic tools safely and proficiently.
Perform basic service, predictive, and preventive maintenance on plant and wellfield equipment using CMMS software.
Operate, maintain, and identify plant systems and components, including valves, rotating equipment, instrumentation, and P&IDs.
Execute lockout/tagout/tryout procedures and comply with all plant safety, fire protection, life safety, and process safety management systems.
Follow direction from plant leadership, coordinate contractors as needed, contribute to operational improvements, and remain flexible to meet changing plant needs.

Operate plant and wellfield systems from both the control room and in the field.
Identify, respond to, and assist in resolving upset or abnormal operating conditions accurately and efficiently.
Support optimization efforts to achieve the best operating point and maintain maximum plant output.
Evaluate equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively recommend improvements.
Assist with hourly, daily, and weekly site generation forecasting.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently in plant and wellfield environments.
Maintain knowledge of all regulatory compliance requirements and operating limits for plant and wellfield systems.
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, and perform other assigned duties as required.
