As development progresses, the consultant will transition into functional testing, validating that custom-built solutions meet approved requirements, design logic, and end‑to‑end process expectations.
The consultant will partner closely with business stakeholders, functional SMEs, technical developers, and project leadership, ensuring full traceability between requirements, designs, and delivered functionality. This position requires strong analytical skills, deep SAP HCM/Payroll functional expertise, and the ability to clearly articulate system logic and expected behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:

- Translate requirements into detailed functional design specifications, including business rules, calculations, data structures, validations, and error handling
- Identify SAP HCM/Payroll configuration dependencies, data requirements, and integration touchpoints
- Facilitate design walkthroughs and collaborate with functional and technical teams to resolve open questions
- Provide clarifications to developers throughout the build phase
- Maintain traceability between requirements, functional designs, and delivered objects
Functional Testing
- Develop detailed test scenarios, test scripts, and test data aligned to approved functional designs
- Execute functional testing and validate results against documented specifications
- Validate calculations, business rules, data flows, error conditions, and exception handling
- Document test results and maintain evidence for audit and traceability
- Identify defects, collaborate with developers on expected behavior, retest fixes, and support regression testing
- Support readiness and handoff activities for subsequent testing phases
Here’s what you need:
- 4+ years SAP HCM functional experience
- Understanding of HR processes and SAP HCM data structures
- Experience developing functional specifications for SAP custom developments
- Experience designing and executing functional test cases for SAP solutions
- Ability to translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical documentation
