The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe site-wide logistics. In addition to managing, tracking, and distribution of inventory, this role plays a key hands-on part in facilitating internal relocations and supporting company activities through package pick-up and delivery, furniture moves, and event setup at CMI’s customer site in Shepherdstown, WV.
Key Job Functions
- Safely operate Government vehicles and material handling equipment to pick up, sort, and deliver site-wide packages, mail, and freight on a regular schedule.
- Coordinate and execute internal furniture relocations, office configurations, and equipment moves safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to site occupants.
- Assist with the setup, breakdown, and rearrangement of tables, chairs, gym mats as well as signage or for meetings, conferences, and on-site special events.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against packing slips or purchase orders, and inspect packages and items for visible damage or discrepancies.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines regarding material handling, heavy lifting, vehicle operation, and equipment safety. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse and event staging environment.
- Verify materials against receiving documents
- Note and report discrepancies and obvious damages
- Route materials to locations
- Store, stack, or palletize materials
- Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials
- Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage
- Clean building entrances (seasonal)
- Material pick up at offsite locations
- May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties
- High school diploma
- 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, logistics, facilities maintenance, or event operations role.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (ability to drive company delivery vehicles or cargo vans).
- High physical endurance with the ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs. regularly, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform heavy lifting/pushing during furniture moves and event setups.
- Basic computer proficiency for tracking packages and managing inventory.
- Strong communication, time-management, and customer-service skills when interacting with internal departments, event coordinators, and facility staff.
- Self-starter with good initiative to get the job done with minimal direct supervision
