About the role

ComplianceContract Management
We’re looking for a Head of Finance Operations to run the day-to-day finance function of the group: to make sure the books close on time and are right, that our compliance obligations in every country we operate in are met, and that the processes behind all of this get better every month. SafeSize is a global FitTech company specialising in AI-powered 3D foot scanning and personalised footwear fitting, with a growing customisation platform. We are entering a growth stage and moving to a new, retail-centred business model, and we are strengthening the finance function to match. Reporting to the CFO, this is a senior, hands-on role with a strong accounting backbone. You will own the execution of finance operations and the policies and controls that make them repeatable, take the lead on the group audit, transfer-pricing documentation and the overall relationship with our external accountants and the tax authorities, and act as the finance partner to Commercial, Operations and Logistics. A key priority will be to strengthen financial discipline and accountability, continuously improve processes and efficiency and ensure consistent and timely execution across the finance function. You will take ownership of operational finance matters end to end, working proactively across teams and external partners to resolve issues effectively and keep the function running smoothly. You will also work closely with our internal finance team and external accountants in each country, creating the structure, processes and ways of working that enable finance function to operate effectively and with a high degree of autonomy. The CFO retains ownership of financial planning and management reporting, treasury, banking and financing, fundraising, investor and Board relations, group structure and governance, M&A and strategic partnerships, tax strategy, and the final sign-off on statutory accounts and budgets. You will support him on each of these with reliable data, analysis and preparation - and you will be his deputy on operational finance matters. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant who has run a finance function in an international, multi-entity company, enjoys fixing things at the root, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities shift and a lot happens in parallel. What you'll do  1. Finance operations and the monthly close - Be accountable for the day-to-day finance function - invoicing, receivables and credit control, payables and payments, bank reconciliations and the monthly closing calendar - making sure the team delivers it accurately, on time, every month. - Set the priorities and rhythm of the finance team's daily work so that deadlines are met, and take ownership of resolving the issues that come up - with the team, with other departments or with external parties - before they reach the CFO. - Lead and develop the finance team, establishing clear responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations, and building a high-performing function with a strong focus on quality, ownership and timely delivery. 2. Compliance, audit and tax - Keep the overview of the month-end close and of the group consolidation, so that both run to the calendar and the numbers that leave the finance function are consistent and reconciled. - Keep the group's books in order and audit-ready at all times, and reduce financial and operational risk through clear controls over company transactions. - Own the group's finance policies and procedures (approvals and delegation of authority, credit and collections, expenses, customer and supplier master data) and make sure they are documented, applied and kept current. - Lead the main parts of the group audit: planning with the auditors, the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation, and the resolution of audit queries across the group's entities. - Own the intercompany transactions, recharges and transfer-pricing documentation. - Be the first point of contact for the external accountants in each country on critical accounting and compliance matters. - Handle the relationship with the Greek tax authorities (ΑΑΔΕ), make sure myDATA submissions and all statutory filings are complete and on time, and keep the group ahead of regulatory changes. - Oversee the tax aspects of the group's operations - corporate income tax, VAT, withholding taxes and cross-border matters - with our external advisors, and make sure tax filings and tax provisions are complete and right. 3. Order-to-cash and the commercial interface - Own the end-to-end order-to-cash process: contract review from a finance perspective, customer and sales-order set-up in the ERP, correct and timely invoicing, collections and overdue-payment follow-up, credit decisions within agreed limits, and customer terminations. - Act as the finance business partner to Commercial, Operations and Logistics: fix at the source the contract, order and logistics issues that create errors in the books, and give the business clear visibility of receivables, margins and customer performance. - Build the account-management discipline on the finance side: clean customer ledgers, disputes resolved quickly and overdue balances escalated early. 4. Support to the CFO - Prepare the data, analyses and documents the CFO needs for monthly management reporting and budgeting, including the actual-versus-budget comparison and commentary on variances. - Prepare and coordinate responses to due-diligence requests from investors, lenders and auditors. - Drive funding programmes - bank loans, grants, subsidies and EU or national investment schemes - from application to reporting, with the help of external consultants where needed. - Act as first-line approver within delegated limits and as the CFO's deputy on operational finance matters. - Support strategic projects with financial analysis. - Drive effective cash-flow, working-capital and cost management and support profitability-improvement initiatives. - Support the CFO, as needed, on the group's insurance cover and renewals. 5. The new business model, systems and automation - Help structure the finance side of our new retail-centred business model: the billing, settlement, costing and reporting flows it needs, designed so that they scale without a rebuild later. - Drive the continuous improvement, standardisation and automation of finance processes, working with our ERP owner and external Odoo consultant, and bring new tools and technologies into the function where they make a real difference. - Make sure the ERP set-up (customers, products, contracts, order and invoicing flows, logistics postings) supports clean, auditable data.
