Position Overview
The Associate Director, Field Medical Affairs will lead a dedicated, field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team focused on myelofibrosis (MF) and VEXAS within the Vonjo Medical Affairs organization. This role is accountable for developing MSL talent, enabling compliant execution of field medical plans, and supporting high-quality scientific exchange with clinicians and institutions relevant to the MF and VEXAS treatment landscapes.
The leader will translate medical strategy into field execution, coach MSLs toward excellence and strong external engagement, and ensure the team captures actionable insights that inform Medical Affairs strategy, educational priorities, evidence needs, and cross-functional planning.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Vonjo MSL team focused on MF and VEXAS, with accountability for team effectiveness, compliant field execution, and the professional development of direct reports.
- Translate medical strategy into clear field priorities, activity plans, insight objectives, and territory-level execution expectations.
- Ensure MSL activities align with US Medical Affairs goals and are executed compliantly across scientific exchange, insight generation, healthcare decision-maker education, congress activity, and appropriate research or clinical trial support.
- Lead team meetings and operating rhythms that support cohesion, best-practice sharing, scientific readiness, field excellence, accountability, and retention of top talent.
- Support onboarding, training, certification, and continuous development of MSLs to ensure scientific and operational readiness across MF, VEXAS, Vonjo data, disease-state education, and field medical processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Medical Directors, Medical Information, Clinical Development, Market Access, Marketing, Sales, and Patient Advocacy to support unified customer-facing medical engagement.
- Identify, interview, hire, onboard, coach, and retain MSL talent, fostering a diverse, inclusive, performance-oriented team culture.
- Promote MSL excellence in scientific exchange, actionable insight documentation, KOL and institution engagement planning, congress participation, and support of evidence-generation priorities.

This role is intended for a scientifically strong field medical professional who has demonstrated clear, intentional growth toward formal leadership responsibilities. Evidence of readiness may include:
- Leading field medical workstreams
- Mentoring peers
- Supporting training or certification programs
- Driving congress or advisory board preparation
- Leading insight-generation initiatives
- Participating in hiring or onboarding activities
Required Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or PharmD.
- Minimum 2 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience.
- Prior experience as an MSL or in field medical, medical affairs, clinical development, or a related industry role.
- Demonstrated, intentional growth toward leadership, shown through activities such as mentoring, peer or project leadership, training/certification support, onboarding involvement, field excellence initiatives, or cross-functional workstream leadership.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex scientific concepts, clinical data, mechanism of action, disease-state education, and field medical strategy to internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to coach others, provide constructive feedback, influence without authority, and operate effectively in a matrixed environment.
- Strong compliance orientation with current working knowledge of US legal, regulatory, and Medical Affairs guidelines for field medical activities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, operational, and time-management skills.
- High self-awareness, emotional intelligence, business acumen, and accountability.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with external medical experts, institutions, and internal cross-functional partners.
- Demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations, with a growth mindset, solution orientation, and patient-focused decision-making.

- Therapeutic area experience in hematology, myelofibrosis, myeloid malignancies, VEXAS, inflammation, or rare disease.

- Travel: Up to 50%, primarily domestic
