Shape Clinical Excellence as Our Quality and Risk Consultant (0.5 FTE)
Are you a highly skilled medical professional seeking a max term part-time contract role to drive clinical governance and patient safety? We are looking to appoint a dedicated Quality and Risk Consultant to join our esteemed Quality and Risk team. This is a unique opportunity to provide essential medical expertise to our Clinical Governance Unit, reporting directly to the DDMS Quality & Risk, Dr Elissa Poulter.
This role offers significant professional development, including comprehensive training and education in complaint management, clinical incident investigation, high-level open disclosure, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership for Serious Adverse Events: Lead investigations for SAC1 and RSR1 events, including interviewing medical staff, chairing Root Cause Analyses, assisting with report drafting, and overseeing recommendation implementation.
- High-Level Open Disclosure: Lead sensitive open disclosure processes, presenting at family meetings and incident debriefs, and drafting high-level open disclosure letters to families.
- Complaint Oversight: Provide medical oversight for patient complaints, ensuring thorough review and appropriate responses.
- Strategic Support: Assist the Director of Medical Services with clinical investigations and service reviews, and support the hospital's Legal Liaison by reviewing medical notes for external legal and government agency requests.
- Education and Engagement: Contribute to internal education initiatives and actively participate in departmental Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) meetings.
- Quality Improvement: Undertake mortality reviews, maintain associated registries, and lead quality improvement projects across the hospital.About You:
