About Moloco: Moloco is an AI-native performance advertising company, bringing the power of AI advertising to the open internet. Founded in 2013 by machine learning engineers who had built AI advertising systems inside the world's largest technology companies, Moloco began from a shared mission: to build that same engine for the open internet. Today, Moloco is one company with two businesses, built on the same compound AI system. Moloco Ads is our AI-native performance advertising platform, helping mobile app marketers acquire, retain, and re-engage high-value users across the open internet. Moloco Commerce Media is our AI-native retail media platform, enabling retailers and marketplaces to turn their platforms into thriving ad businesses. Both are powered by CARA (Compound Ad Recommendation Architecture), the AI system behind every Moloco product. At Moloco, we bring together those who've already solved hard problems and those with the drive to. Here, we work on some of the complex problems in AI advertising, at a scale and level of sophistication very few companies can offer. Come build what's next. The Impact You'll Be Contributing to Moloco: As we mature as a business, the bar for how we talk about our business externally has risen significantly. Every claim we make, in marketing content, press, and published research, has to be rigorously substantiated, standing up to scrutiny from customers, competitors, and industry analysts alike. At the same time, our content ambitions have grown: we're producing flagship, externally-published market research, including work with external research and data partners, that shapes how the industry sees Moloco. This role is fundamentally about data storytelling: taking complex, often messy data and shaping it into the single clearest narrative that will resonate externally. It's not just about analyzing the data, but helping decide what story it tells and how to tell it. This role also sits at the center of protecting the company by ensuring every public claim we make can be substantiated. You'll execute independently day to day, with good judgment on when to move forward on your own and when to check in. The role is externally-facing and research-driven: the work you produce is published, legally reviewed, and read by customers, press, and partners. The Opportunity: - Execute data storytelling for Moloco's external research and thought leadership, transforming raw, often messy datasets into a single, sharp narrative that lands with press, customers, and industry audiences - Serve as the approval gate for first-party marketing claims ahead of legal review, ensuring every externally stated number and assertion is rigorously substantiated, and standing ready to defend or revise any claim under direct challenge - Independently execute research projects within scope, including coordination with external partners and agencies, with judgment on when and who to loop in along the way - Bring industry context and business judgment to the work: identify what's actually interesting or defensible about a dataset, not just what's technically correct - Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, especially Legal and PMM, as a genuine thought partner, asking sharp questions and pressure-testing ideas rather than just executing requests - Use AI tools to accelerate analysis and content production, while applying critical judgment to catch and correct AI errors before anything ships How Do I Know if the Role is Right For Me? - Strong data storytelling skills as a core competency: proven ability to turn a messy dataset into a single, sharp narrative for an external audience - Experience producing rigorous, defensible research and thought leadership, with comfort working through legal review - Hands-on experience in mobile, advertising, or ad tech, with the confidence to hold your own with industry experts, analysts, and customers - Intellectual honesty under scrutiny: comfortable being directly challenged on your own numbers, and willing to concede or revise a claim rather than defend it reflexively - Experience executing projects independently once scoped, including with external partners or agencies, with good judgment on who to loop in and when - Industry knowledge (mobile, advertising, ad tech, or adjacent) strong enough to bring a point of view, not just process data - Demonstrated ability to work as a genuine thought partner to cross-functional stakeholders, comfortable asking hard questions and challenging assumptions rather than just presenting findings - Rigorous, hands-on analytical ability: strong SQL plus experience with tools like Python/R and BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, or similar) - Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the confidence to execute independently on a day-to-day basis Bonus Points: - Experience working with external research/consulting partners or data partnerships - Experience navigating claims substantiation or disclosure controls in a growing or scaling company - Proficiency working alongside AI tools/agents for research and data analysis (rather than manual execution) - Background in journalism, consulting, or research that required translating data into a defensible public narrative Compensation & Benefits U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits and perks. U.S.-based employees also receive up to 12 scheduled paid holidays per calendar year and one Thrive Day off per quarter. Additionally, all employees have Flexible Time Off (FTO). The successful candidate may be eligible for a bonus and equity awards. Eligibility and amounts are determined by performance and the terms of the applicable plans.
