JOB TITLE:             Mobile Delivery Coordinator                                                 Non-Exempt   REPORTS TO:        Director of Distribution & Transportation    SUPERVISES:         None                             SALARY RANGE: $24.00 - 30.00/Hour DOE BENEFITS:                Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Simple IRA  JOB SUMMARY: The Mobile Delivery Coordinator is responsible for the safe transportation and complete day-to-day operation of Food Mobile FM3. This position requires a valid Class A CDL and works as part of a two-driver team responsible for operating FM3 and providing food distributions in rural communities throughout The Food Depot’s service area. Both Mobile Delivery Coordinators are responsible for the entire FM3 operation from beginning to end. This includes preparing, stocking, and loading the trailer before distributions; placing daily or weekly product orders based on distribution needs; transporting and positioning the truck and trailer; setting up and breaking down at distribution sites; registering and checking in clients; collecting accurate client and distribution data; distributing food; and safely returning the truck and trailer to The Food Depot. The Mobile Delivery Coordinators will monitor inventory, rotate product using FIFO, follow proper food safety procedures, and ensure FM3 has the appropriate food and supplies needed for each distribution. They are also responsible for keeping the truck, trailer, equipment, and client areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for operation at all times. This position requires regular interaction with clients, volunteers, staff, and community partners while providing professional and respectful customer service. Both Mobile Delivery Coordinators are expected to work together and share responsibility for ordering, stocking, loading, transportation, setup, client service, distribution, recordkeeping, breakdown, cleaning, and preparing FM3 for the next distribution. Principal Responsibilities: - Operate a Class A commercial vehicle and safely transport the FM3 truck and trailer to distribution sites throughout The Food Depot’s service area, including rural communities. - Work as part of a two-driver team responsible for the complete operation of FM3, including transportation, product ordering, stocking, loading, trailer setup, client registration, food distribution, breakdown, and return. - Assist with ordering dry product, produce, refrigerated, and frozen items needed for upcoming FM3 distributions based on expected client numbers and distribution needs. - Stock and organize FM3 before each distribution and make sure adequate product and supplies are loaded and ready before departure. - Properly rotate all food and inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to ensure older product is distributed first and to help reduce food waste. - Follow all proper food safety procedures when receiving, loading, transporting, stocking, and distributing food, including the safe handling and storage of dry, refrigerated, frozen, and fresh products. - Monitor refrigerated and frozen products to ensure proper temperatures are maintained throughout transportation and distribution. - Inspect products for damage, spoilage, expiration dates, or other food safety concerns and remove any product that does not meet food safety standards. - Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and related equipment and immediately report any safety or maintenance concerns. - Safely position, park, level, and set up FM3 at distribution locations while following all applicable safety procedures. - Set up and break down the Food Mobile distribution site, including the trailer, equipment, client areas, product, and other materials needed for the distribution. - Assist clients with registration and check-in and provide support throughout the distribution while providing respectful and professional customer service. - Load, unload, stage, organize, stock, and distribute food and other products for FM3 distributions. - Monitor product levels during distributions and help determine product needs for future distributions. - Maintain accurate client counts, distribution records, inventory information, vehicle logs, product records, and other required documentation. - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized truck, trailer, distribution site, and work area before, during, and after each distribution. - Communicate with the Director of Distribution & Transportation and other staff regarding schedules, route changes, product needs, distribution needs, vehicle concerns, and client needs. - Assist with route planning and preparation for rural distribution sites to ensure FM3 arrives safely and on time. - Provide direction and support to volunteers and other staff assisting with FM3 distributions. - Follow all DOT/FMCSA requirements, traffic laws, company policies, and safe driving practices. - Work closely with the other Mobile Delivery Coordinator to ensure all responsibilities are covered and FM3 distributions operate safely and efficiently. - Assist with other Distribution and Transportation duties, deliveries, or Food Mobile operations as needed. Qualifications - High school diploma or GED; 1–3 years of related experience preferred. - Commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot. - Strong communication, teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a two-person team. - Ability to work directly with clients and provide professional and respectful customer service. - Ability to assist with product ordering, inventory, stocking, FIFO rotation, and planning for upcoming distributions. - Knowledge of or ability to learn proper food handling, food safety, storage, and temperature requirements. - Ability to complete client registration, distribution records, inventory documents, vehicle paperwork, and other required documentation accurately. - Basic math skills and understanding of weights and measurements. - Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and inventory systems. - Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization. - Ability to prioritize tasks and adjust to changing schedules, distribution needs, and operational needs. - Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly, with or without reasonable accommodation. Employment Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). - Must possess and maintain a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card) as required for the position. - Must meet all applicable DOT and FMCSA driver qualification requirements. - Must maintain an acceptable driving record and remain eligible to operate The Food Depot’s commercial vehicles. - Must comply with all applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements. - Must be able to safely operate and maneuver the FM3 truck and trailer, including in rural communities and varying road and weather conditions. - Must complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain required driver and vehicle documentation. - Must be available for early morning start times, varying schedules, and travel throughout The Food Depot’s service area based on distribution and operational needs. - Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical Environment - Work is performed in Food Mobile trailers, warehouse environments, and food distribution sites. Some distributions may also be conducted using box trucks. - Requires regular driving and travel throughout the service area and state, with occasional overnight or out-of-state travel possible. - Must safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks, and other equipment. - Must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and safely load and unload products. - Work may involve extreme hot or cold temperatures, loud noise, and moving equipment. - Work hours and start/end times may vary based on delivery schedules and operational needs.
