About the role
Incident ResponseHVACSpanish
Field Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Act as second-level technical support for the FSE Supervisor and FSE Crew within the assigned zone, engaging when a fault or incident exceeds field-level troubleshooting capability.
- Diagnose root cause of recurring or complex faults across BESS systems — batteries, PCS/inverters, BMS/EMS, HVAC and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Escalate to the OEM/equipment manufacturer when a fault exceeds local resolution capacity, and track the case through to closure.
- Support incident response and root-cause analysis jointly with the FSE Supervisor, defining and tracking corrective actions within contractual response times.Maintenance Planning & Engineering
- Develop and maintain the preventive/predictive maintenance plan for assets in the assigned zone, incorporating OEM technical alerts, defect campaigns and field observations fed back by the FSE Supervisor and FSE Crew.
- Generate corrective action plans when recurring failure patterns or performance degradation are identified, and track their execution to closure.
- Recommend improvements to O&M procedures and to the site Maintenance Scope based on lessons learned from field execution.
- Sequence and prioritize inspection and maintenance campaigns across the zone in coordination with the FSE Supervisor, balancing site access, equipment condition and active OEM alerts.Availability & Performance Management
- Monitor plant availability, alarms and degradation indicators across the zone through SCADA/EMS and service management tools, issuing early warnings when trends threaten contractual performance targets.
- Prioritize technical interventions according to their impact on availability and contractual criticality (LTSA/SLA commitments).
- Support the FSE Supervisor in evaluating spare-parts and resourcing constraints that could affect maintenance timelines or contractual response commitments.Reporting & Technical Interface
- Act as the technical point of contact for client site representatives on engineering matters that exceed the FSE Supervisor's scope of detail.
- Document and transfer technical knowledge to the FSE Crew to raise first-line troubleshooting capability.
- Feed maintenance plan status, root-cause findings and recurring-failure trends into the Engineering Lead's zone-level and portfolio engineering reporting.
- Flag to the Engineering Lead when the assigned zone's site count or technical workload approaches the threshold defined for single-Engineer coverage, to trigger timely evaluation of additional Service Engineer coverage as the portfolio grows.
Requirements
- Technical degree or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in maintenance or engineering of BESS, solar PV, or other grid-connected/industrial energy assets.
- Prior experience providing technical support to field crews or subcontracted maintenance teams is preferred.
- Availability to travel to site as required by the assigned zone.
- Availability for after-hours escalation on critical incidents, consistent with the 24/7 operational nature of the Maintenance scope.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required.Competencies
- Working knowledge of BESS/PCS and MV equipment, and ability to read electrical diagrams and single-line drawings.
- Knowledge of BMS/EMS systems and associated communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, as applicable).
- Root cause analysis (RCA) skills and familiarity with maintenance methodologies (RCM, TPM a plus).
- Working knowledge of SCADA/EMS and remote asset monitoring platforms.
- Ability to work under reactive pressure without losing planning discipline.
- Strong technical communication skills with field teams, OEMs and client site representatives.
- Autonomy — the role operates without constant direct supervision and must prioritize without escalating every decision.
