About Prometheus
Prometheus is building AI systems for engineering in the physical world: fleets of agents and solvers working on long-running, steerable jobs. The people and agents driving that work need an interface. Today it does not exist. You will be its first owner.
The role
This is a founding front-end role with full ownership of architecture, tooling, patterns, and visual quality. The interface differs from a typical web application in three ways.
- It is agent-driven and ephemeral. Agents compose the UI as they work: surfacing a view here, a trace there, a decision that needs a human now. Views are generated, streamed, and discarded. There are no established patterns for this; you will set them.
- It is real-time over long-running state. Sessions run for days. The interface streams live progress from thousands of concurrent jobs, stays consistent through reconnects, and lets a human steer mid-run.
- It renders complex 3D and data-heavy content. WebGL/WebGPU, three.js-class rendering, large datasets, 60fps expectations.
You will build the component runtime, the streaming and state layer, the 3D visualization stack, and the design system. The role also requires real design sense: for most people who use the product, your work is the product.
You might be a fit if
- You have 5+ years building complex web applications or front-end infrastructure, and something you are proud to demo.
- You have framework-author-level depth in React or a comparable system: rendering internals, concurrency, streaming (RSC or equivalent), state management you could have written yourself.
- You have built real-time collaborative or streaming interfaces: multiplayer editing, live dashboards, trading UIs, in-game interfaces, or agent products.
- You have strong design instincts and a record of shipping interfaces people describe as fast and beautiful, ideally alongside designers of the Figma/Linear caliber, or as the designer yourself.
- You are comfortable owning the whole surface alone at first: build tooling, testing, performance budgets, deployment.
Strong pluses
- 3D in the browser: three.js, react-three-fiber, WebGPU, large-mesh rendering.
- Generative UI: streaming component trees from model output (AI SDK / v0-class work).
- Local-first or CRDT-based state (Yjs, Automerge), sync engines, or presence systems.
- Open-source authorship or maintainership on tooling or frameworks the community uses.
