KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open enrollment, college preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and life. There are 285 KIPP schools across the nation and the District of Columbia, serving more than 175,000 students and alumni with more than 15,000 educators.  Founded in 2008 with 50 students in 5th grade, KIPP Columbus currently educates  2,000 students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth.  With a mission to, together with families and the community, create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose -- college, career, and beyond --  KIPP has maintained excellence in its growth, and will improve upon that standard – proving what is possible in public education. KIPP is also a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, offering more than 10 varsity sports.  The KIPP Columbus learning campus will continue to advance student learning, expand partnerships, enable superior programming, and serve as a teaching and leadership lab for schools nationwide, reimagining education through a deeper lens of antiracism, excellence, and joy as we expand to educate nearly 4,000 students on our learning campus in the coming years.  Interested in learning more about our school?  Please check out our website: https://www.kippcolumbus.org/ The Opportunity Reporting to the Student Recruitment and Enrollment Manager and in partnership with the school-based Operations team, a Student Recruitment Ambassador supports regional student recruitment and enrollment strategy. KIPP Columbus seeks enthusiastic, detail-oriented and mission-driven individuals for the role of KIPP Student Recruitment Ambassador that offers an opportunity to develop professionally and help expand the school’s community. Student Recruitment Ambassadors will receive leadership training to support the implementation of student recruitment and outreach activities and create sustaining connections with new families in the school’s community.  Through a part-time commitment of 25 hours per week, Student Recruitment Ambassadors will work both as a team and one-on-one with School Operations teams to connect with the broader community, help raise the awareness and visibility of KIPP Columbus, and support the drive toward the school’s student recruitment goals. This role is a temporary and flexible part-time hourly position that requires work on some weekends, evenings and/or holidays.  Community Outreach and Engagement - Actively participate in and represent KIPP Columbus at external events, such as fairs, open houses, and community events in order to engage with families, answer inquiries, share information about our school’s programs and offerings, and encourage families to apply. - Research and identify opportunities to attend community events that align with KIPP Columbus’s recruitment priorities and provide opportunities to connect with prospective families and support application goals. - Identify and plan for opportunities to participate in events throughout the school year that increase KIPP Columbus’s visibility and connect us with prospective families. - Help strengthen KIPP Columbus’s presence in the communities we serve by sharing our mission, schools, programs, and opportunities with families and community members. - Support the organization and hosting of events that welcome prospective families, community organizations, and community leaders to the KIPP Columbus community. Internal Engagement - Actively participate in our internal family events, serving as a point of contact for families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have, and encouraging families to promote KIPP Columbus’s programs and opportunities.    Student Recruitment Activities - Collaborate with Regional and School Ops leaders to prepare and implement outreach activities to recruit new families and students to KIPP, including flyering, canvassing and tabling in the school community. - Participate in and help lead recruitment activities, including community events, tabling, flyering, canvassing, school tours, information sessions, and other outreach efforts. - Hold 1:1 conversations with current and prospective families to answer questions, share information about KIPP Columbus, build interest, and help families take the next step toward applying. - Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable point of contact for prospective families throughout the recruitment process. - Help generate applications through community events, recruitment activities, and direct outreach. - Track and communicate family interest and recruitment activity to support timely follow-up and lead management.   Lead Management - Follow up with families who express interest at community events, recruitment events, or through other outreach efforts. - Support the conversion of prospective family interest into completed applications by answering questions, addressing barriers, and connecting families to the appropriate KIPP Columbus team members when needed. - Maintain accurate and timely information about family interactions and follow-up needs. Experience: - Current, past, or future parent of a KIPP student preferred - Outreach and communication experience is preferred - Experience working as part of a team in a professional setting Knowledge/skills required:  - 100% aligned with the mission and values of KIPP Columbus - Credible amongst peers and a connector mindset. - Excited to learn and grow - Results oriented - Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect authentically with a wide range of families and community members. - Comfortable initiating conversations with new people and representing an organization in public settings. - Warm, welcoming, and engaging communication style. - Ability to represent KIPP Columbus professionally and enthusiastically at community and recruitment events. All Student Recruitment Ambassadors will be required to submit a background check to KIPP Columbus prior to the start of employment.  Classification Temporary and flexible part-time hourly position; 25 hours per week; includes the possibility of some evening, weekend and/or holiday work.  Compensation $15.00 per hour up to a maximum of 25 hours per week. The position is not eligible for benefits, holiday or break pay.
