MS NOW Digital is looking for a Video Producer/Editor. This producer/editor will conceive, write, produce, and edit fast, smart, and compelling video for social and digital platforms. This role will have a heavy focus on politics and the 2028 election cycle, while also contributing to the daily news cycle, primetime show content, original franchises, breaking news coverage, and major MS NOW initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an expert editor and strong writer with deep political instincts. You can identify the most compelling element of a candidate event, hearing, interview, breaking news development, or show segment and frame it into accurate, visually distinctive video that stands out in a crowded news environment.
PLEASE NOTE: position hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 2pm–10pm and Saturday 11am–7pm.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Responsibilities
- Conceive, write, produce, and edit vertical videos daily for social platforms.
- Produce original social and digital video with a strong emphasis on politics, elections, campaigns and the 2028 race.
- Partner with the DC political unit, campaign teams, reporters, field producers, editors, and show teams to strengthen story framing, scripts, headlines, and visual execution.
- Transform compelling linear segments, interviews, live moments, and reporting into high-performing digital video.
- React quickly to breaking news with accurate, distinctive, competitive videos that help lead the conversation.
- Distill complex political and policy stories into concise, engaging, and accessible storytelling for broad digital audiences.
- Generate daily and longer-term pitches for original video, social franchises, and 2028-focused formats.
- Edit longer-form video for YouTube, OTT, livestreams, and other digital platforms as assigned.
- Write sharp scripts, headlines, captions, descriptions, and social copy.
- Work with anchors, contributors, and reporters on original videos and digital-first storytelling.
- Ensure all work meets MS NOW editorial, legal, Standards and Practices, and accuracy requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of digital, social, or video producing, editing, and writing experience.
- Deep knowledge of politics, campaigns, elections, and the issues shaping the 2028 cycle.
- Expert Adobe Premiere skills, with the ability to edit efficiently and creatively under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience producing and editing original digital video for social audiences.
- Strong scriptwriting, headline-writing, copy-editing, and storytelling skills.
- Excellent editorial judgment, including the ability to identify the most compelling and newsworthy elements of a story.
- Strong attention to accuracy, fairness, context, nuance, and detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and original projects in a fast-paced news environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and take editorial direction.
- Familiarity with YouTube livestream technology and digital production workflows.
- Experience covering politics and elections.Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with reporters, field teams, anchors, or show production teams on video stories.
- Strong instinct for emerging political stories and the audience conversation around them.
- Experience producing both vertical social video and longer-form YouTube or OTT video.
- Familiarity with camera equipment, audio gathering, lighting, and basic field production.
- Ability to develop story ideas, research, and plan segments independently.Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news, election events, debates, weekends, and special projects.
- This position has been designated as hybrid, with in-office work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday weekly.

Salary Range: $93,000 - $110,000
