Who You Are
As VP of Commercial Strategy,you will help shape the revenue growth strategy for an assigned Business Unit while serving as a critical link between customers, the market, and Inovalon’s internal product organization. Reporting to the President of the assigned Business Unit, you will influence commercial direction across go to market strategy, pricing, market expansion, and strategic partnerships in a dynamic healthcare data and analytics environment. You bring an executive perspective on market trends, customer needs, and regulatory developments, and you translate those insights into practical decisions that strengthen growth and long term client value. This is a highly visible leadership role with impact across the business and direct relevance to how Inovalon positions, evolves, and scales its solutions.
What You'll Do
- Shape and support the commercial strategy for the assigned Business Unit, including revenue targets, go to market priorities, market opportunity assessment, and product pricing strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the President of the assigned Business Unit and collaborate closely with executive stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Product, Legal, Compliance, and other internal functions to align commercial priorities with product and enterprise strategy.
- Build and deepen relationships with customers, partners, and internal commercial leaders to strengthen market position, support revenue growth, and ensure customer and market perspectives inform business decisions.
- Guide market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, regulatory developments, and new business opportunities across the healthcare data and analytics landscape.
- Support sales efforts through executive level client engagement, pre sales activities, customer meetings, conferences, and proposal development that improves win rates, retention, and market credibility.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to advance brand building initiatives, campaigns, collateral, and messaging that reinforce the Business Unit’s value proposition and support growth objectives.
- Evaluate revenue performance, sales trends, and the commercial impact of new business and product initiatives, then refine plans and priorities to improve retention and accelerate growth.
- Advance strategies to expand access to new products and markets by contributing to partnership and inorganic investment initiatives in collaboration with Sales, Product, Corporate Strategy, and other internal stakeholders.
- Lead or contribute to a small team supporting the commercial needs of the assigned Business Unit, while fostering alignment, accountability, and effective execution.
- Present business plans, commercial strategies, and revenue trends to senior leadership, clearly articulating priorities, risks, and value creation opportunities.
What You'll Need
- 20+ years of experience in a data and analytics business with a focus on commercial strategy and revenue responsibility, including 10 to 15+ years of progressive leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare data and analytics ecosystem, with a demonstrated track record of contributing to and achieving revenue plans.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and business units to support and deliver a commercial strategy aligned with product strategy.
- Proven success contributing to progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
- Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with and influence senior leadership and external parties.
- Demonstrate Strategic Vision and Business Acumen by connecting market dynamics, customer needs, revenue drivers, and the healthcare landscape to clear commercial priorities the organization can execute.
- Demonstrate Influence by building credibility with the President of the Business Unit, executive peers, clients, and partners, and by aligning stakeholders around decisions in complex, cross functional environments.
- Demonstrate Leadership and Organizational Development by guiding and developing teams, strengthening cross functional collaboration, and helping the organization scale its commercial capabilities effectively.

Work Environment
- This is primarily a computer-based role performed in a remote, hybrid, or office environment. The role requires prolonged periods of computer use and frequent communication and interaction with others, either virtually and/or in person. The role may occasionally require transporting or moving work-related equipment weighing up to 10 pounds, such as a laptop and related materials. Some travel may be required, depending on the needs of the role.
