Job Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Technician supports the day‑to‑day upkeep, safety, and functionality of the company’s facilities, tools, and equipment. This role performs routine maintenance, assists with repairs, supports workshop operations, and helps ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and compliant with company and regulatory standards. The technician works closely with leadership, contractors, and internal teams to maintain an efficient and well‑organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general infrastructure.
- Perform light carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.
- Support larger repairs or renovation projects under the direction of supervisors or external contractors.
- Monitor the condition, cleanliness, and safety of interior and exterior areas such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with installing, repairing, or replacing fixtures, equipment, and facility components as needed.
Safety, Security & Compliance
- Support implementation of facility safety standards, emergency preparedness procedures, and security measures.
- Conduct basic safety checks (e.g., fire extinguishers, exit signs, smoke detectors) and report issues promptly.
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with company protocols.
Workshop & Equipment Support
- Assist with workshop operations, including tool maintenance, equipment repairs, and inventory organization.
- Perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs on tools and equipment as directed.
- Help maintain accurate records of tool usage, maintenance, and service needs.
Vendor & Contractor Support
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors during scheduled maintenance or repair work.
- Support site access, escorting, and monitoring of third‑party service providers.
Operational Support
- Assist with space setup, furniture moves, storage organization, and general facility improvements.
- Perform general labor duties as needed, including cleaning, organizing, moving materials, and supporting facility operations.
- Monitor weekly waste management pickup, including allowing access to the lot, confirming bins are emptied, and ensuring bins are safely returned to their designated locations.
- Support energy‑efficient and sustainable facility practices where applicable.
- Help maintain documentation of maintenance activities, service logs, and facility procedures.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related fields a plus.
- 2–4 years of experience in facility maintenance, building repair, workshop support, or a related role.
- Experience in industrial or engineering environments is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Skills & Competencies
- Hands‑on skills in basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or general building maintenance.
- Strong understanding of building systems and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Good communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience working with landlords, building management, or external contractors is helpful.
- Ability to follow maintenance procedures and document work accurately.
- Familiarity with building management systems is a plus
Working Conditions
- This position requires onsite work, with responsibilities carried out at our designated facility or job location.
- Be prepared for irregular work hours as operation need may require flexibility beyond standard schedules.
- Regular local travel as required.
