Electrical Design Engineer | Waukesha, WI
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team in Waukesha, WI as an Electrical Design Engineer. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will:
- Serve as the technical lead on custom low‑ and medium‑voltage projects
- Interpret project documentation including specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to develop detailed electrical designs
- Create AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, one‑line diagrams, and component layouts for submittals, construction packages, and as‑built documentation
- Research components and develop complete bills of material for project designs
- Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to specify and approve components and assemblies
- Design and implement power system control schemes including transfer control, load management, generator control, microgrid control, and SCADA integration
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards including NFPA, NEC, and UL
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing, testing, and product support teams
- Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Research emerging technologies and evaluate applicability for future projects
- Adapt to changing priorities and support project needs across engineering and production
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
- Contribute to projects that impact communities in Pewaukee, Brookfield, New Berlin, Sussex, Hartland, Muskego, Menomonee Falls, West Allis, and Wauwatosa and the greater Milwaukee metro

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design; knowledge of low‑ and medium‑voltage power system design including grounding schemes
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and power system documentation
- Experience designing and programming automated control systems using PLCs, HMIs, PC‑based controls, and distributed processing
- Experience creating drawings in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
- Knowledge of electrical codes including NFPA, NEC, and UL
- Familiarity with UL891, UL1558, UL medium‑voltage standards, and UL508A
- Knowledge of PLC platforms and communication protocols such as Modbus and CANbus
- Experience specifying components and developing bills of material
- Experience designing power system control schemes including transfer control, load management, generator control, microgrid control, and SCADA integration
- Ability to troubleshoot and commission power control and automation systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing, testing, and product support teams
- Ability to create AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, one‑line diagrams, and component layouts
- Experience conducting design reviews for accuracy and compliance
- Knowledge of installation, troubleshooting, and programming of automated control systems
- Capable of working independently and as a team member

ESTIMATED PAY RANGE
Engineer I: $40.45–$46.52/hour
Engineer II: $44.14–$50.76/hour
Engineer III: $47.83–$55.00/hour
Senior Engineer: $51.51–$59.24/hour
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
