Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE Join the founding engineering team at an early-stage AI fintech company building systems to support complex financial transactions. You will take ownership of critical technical challenges and help shape the product and engineering foundations from the ground up. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build AI systems that model businesses, reconcile conflicting evidence, and reason about how decisions affect companies and markets. - Develop agents that coordinate complex, multi-party financial workflows while tracking context, commitments, and dependencies as conditions change. - Own architecture, infrastructure, evaluation methods, and product interfaces for core systems. - Help shape the technical team and establish engineering standards. - Work across backend systems, applied AI, and user-facing product development to turn ambiguous problems into reliable products. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - At least 8 years of experience shipping production-grade systems and owning important technical decisions. - Deep applied AI experience, including building intelligent agents and models for complex business processes. - Experience coordinating multi-party workflows and building AI systems involving retrieval, memory, or evaluation frameworks. - Ability to work across backend engineering, applied AI, infrastructure, and product interfaces in data-intensive environments. - Strong system design and engineering skills, with experience building from first principles in greenfield settings. - Background in financial or other complex professional workflows is helpful. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Annual salary range is $180,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, California, United States.
