Position Summary
Greenworks is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to lead go-to-market strategy, product commercialization, and profitable growth for its assigned battery-platform outdoor power equipment (OPE) and/or power tool portfolio.
This individual will combine strong industry and product knowledge with strategic marketing and commercial leadership to develop channel-specific assortment, product positioning, pricing, commercialization, and launch strategies. The role requires an understanding of how professional and consumer customers select, purchase, and use OPE and power tools, along with demonstrated success translating those insights into measurable business results.
Working closely with sales, marketing, finance, engineering, industrial design, and supply chain, the Senior Product Marketing Manager will guide product strategy and portfolio decisions while ensuring successful execution from business case through launch and ongoing category growth. This individual will collaborate with teams in the United States and China to bring innovative battery-powered products and solutions to market.
Candidates who should apply will have direct knowledge about the OPE/Power Tool industry and preferred battery-powered products. Also the candidate may come from product management, product marketing, product engineering, channel marketing, category management, or commercial strategy backgrounds. Successful candidates must demonstrate both relevant industry knowledge and ownership of go-to-market strategies.
Position-Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead the core pillars of the position: go-to-market strategy, product commercialization, portfolio management, customer insight, product marketing, and business performance.
- Develop and execute specific go-to-market plans covering target customers, product positioning, assortment, pricing, merchandising, launch timing, sales enablement, and performance measures.
- Own commercial strategy and category performance for the assigned product and accessory portfolio, including revenue, gross margin, competitive positioning, and profitable growth.
- Develop differentiated strategies for professional and consumer customers based on their product applications, purchasing behavior, performance expectations, and channel preferences.
- Lead new product commercialization from business case through launch and post-launch review, coordinating product availability, customer readiness, marketing assets, training, and promotional execution.
- Develop channel-specific assortments, product configurations, kits, bundles, and battery-platform offerings that meet customer needs and support category growth.
- Establish MSRP recommendations, competitive price positioning, promotional pricing, and margin optimization strategies in partnership with sales and finance.
- Lead go-to-market strategies that secure customer listings and distribution and sell-through strategies that drive end-user demand and product adoption.
- Partner with sales to develop and present compelling category plans, product launches, assortment recommendations, and promotional programs to retail buyers, dealers, distributors, and other channel partners.
- Translate product features and performance into clear customer benefits, competitive selling stories, and differentiated value propositions.
- Lead voice-of-customer research through engagement with contractors, landscapers, dealers, retailers, and consumer users, as appropriate to the assigned categories.
- Maintain a strong understanding of competitive products, pricing, battery ecosystems, channel strategies, merchandising, and promotional activity; translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with engineering and industrial design to define product requirements and prioritize roadmaps based on customer needs, market opportunities, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
- Manage the product lifecycle, including SKU rationalization, product refreshes, feature upgrades, cost reductions, replacement products, and transitions, coordinating inventory and parts implications with relevant teams.
- Partner with supply chain and demand planning to align launch forecasts, seasonal demand, promotional activity, inventory availability, and product transitions.
- Monitor category and launch performance, identify gaps and growth opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
General Responsibilities
- Build strategic go-to-market plans and translate them into clear actions, ownership, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve launch readiness and meet agreed objectives for time-to-market, customer expectations, target cost, revenue, margin, and profitability.
- Manage multiple concurrent launches, changing customer requirements, seasonal selling windows, and compressed timelines while maintaining clear priorities and accountability.
- Use market research, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and business performance data to guide decisions.
- Track relevant performance measures, including revenue, gross margin, retail point-of-sale and sell-through, distribution, inventory turns, promotional return on investment, and forecast accuracy.
- Develop sales enablement tools and collateral, including customer presentations, product comparison guides, positioning briefs, launch materials, and category training.
- Conduct product and category training for internal teams and channel partners, including practical product demonstrations where appropriate.
- Communicate recommendations, business cases, risks, and performance updates clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintain firsthand market knowledge through customer visits, dealer and retailer engagement, field research, trade events, and product demonstrations.
- Travel up to 25–30%, primarily domestically, with occasional international travel.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in product management, product marketing, channel marketing, category management, or commercial strategy.
- - At least 3 years of direct professional experience supporting OPE and/or power tool products or closely related field, with demonstrated knowledge of relevant product categories, end-user applications, competitive brands, and sales channels.
- Demonstrated ownership of go-to-market strategies, product launches, or channel growth initiatives that delivered measurable improvements in revenue, gross margin, distribution, sell-through, or market share.
- Experience developing assortment, pricing, promotional, and product positioning strategies for physical products.
- Direct experience working with one or more relevant channels, such as home improvement retail, hardware or farm retail, OPE dealers, industrial distributors, professional trade channels, or e-commerce.
- Working knowledge of cordless and battery-powered products, including platform compatibility, performance considerations, and customer purchase drivers.
- Ability to translate technical product information into compelling customer benefits and commercial strategies.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience evaluating pricing, margins, forecasts, sales performance, and promotional effectiveness.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, including experience presenting recommendations to customers or business leadership.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coordinate sales, marketing, finance, engineering, and operations teams.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Candidates with OPE/power tool channel marketing or trade marketing backgrounds are encouraged to apply when they have owned assortment, pricing, commercialization, and measurable business results.
Experience solely in software, SaaS, digital platforms, or financial products management does not satisfy the required for this particular role.
