What We’re Looking For: The Finance team at 2U provides strategic financial leadership and analytical support to stakeholders across the organization. We support decision-making and operational effectiveness through financial planning, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, all in service of 2U’s mission to expand access to high-quality education. As a Senior Manager, FP&A, you will play a lead role in supporting high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across the business.This includes evaluating new initiatives, supporting business case development, driving financial modeling, and surfacing insights that inform company-wide decisions. You’ll work closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to drive clarity around priorities, risks, and opportunities. This is an ideal role for a highly analytical and proactive individual with strong business acumen and a desire to work in a mission-driven and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Financial Planning, Forecasting & Strategic Analysis - Help lead the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning processes across the organization. - Own the consolidation of enterprise financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans across all business units, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial assumptions. - Develop and maintain integrated three-statement financial models (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) to support planning, liquidity management, and executive decision-making. - Build scenario analyses, business cases, and financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, investments, and operational decisions. - Partner with executive leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations that support company objectives. Business Partnership & Performance Management - Partner with business leaders to evaluate financial performance, operational trends, and resource allocation. - Analyze monthly financial results, identify key performance drivers, and communicate actionable insights to leadership. - Develop scalable reporting, dashboards, and KPIs to monitor business performance and improve decision-making. - Support cross-functional initiatives by providing financial analysis and decision support. FP&A Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement - Lead continuous improvements to FP&A processes, reporting, and planning capabilities through automation and standardization. - Maintain and enhance financial planning models and reporting within Adaptive Planning, ensuring data integrity, forecasting accuracy, and efficient planning processes. - Improve financial reporting infrastructure and documentation to increase transparency and scalability. - Prepare executive, Board, and management reporting materials that clearly communicate financial performance and outlook. Strategic Initiatives & Partner Finance Support - Lead or support enterprise strategic initiatives requiring cross-functional financial evaluation and coordination. - Support Degree partner cash collection initiatives through financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and collaboration with business partners to improve working capital and cash flow. - Provide ad hoc financial analyses to support evolving business priorities during the company's transformation. Leadership & Team Development - Foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement - Elevate analytical capabilities, financial acumen, and storytelling skills across the team - Optimize team structure and workflows to scale with company growth Things That Should Be In Your Background: - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred) - 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related field, with 5+ years in a leadership role - Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing teams - Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate financial insights - Advanced proficiency with Adaptive Planning (or comparable enterprise planning systems) including model development, forecasting, reporting, and administration. - Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills - Demonstrated competency in three-statement financial modeling - Proven ability to translate complex financial analyses into clear, compelling narratives for Board and executive-level presentations Working Conditions: - 5% of travel via plane, car, and train may be required - Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant Physical Requirements - Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor - Access information using a computer Management Responsibilities - Directly manage senior analysts - Responsible for team hiring, performance management, and professional development While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA three days a week.
