About the role
Contract Management
The New York City Law Department is accepting applications from admitted attorneys for Assistant Corporation Counsel in our Commercial and Real Estate Litigation Division. The Commercial and Real Estate Litigation Division’s cases include novel and complex contractual, statutory, and constitutional issues, and some cases seek tens of millions of dollars in damages or challenge critical government decisions.
The attorney in this role will represent the City and related entities in commercial litigation and real estate matters, including delay damages and other claims under multimillion-dollar construction contracts with private companies to build or repair the City's infrastructure, contracts for critically needed goods and services, and procurement process disputes. The position will also involve counseling City agencies regarding procurement issues, the contractual ADR process, and other matters. The Division litigates principally in state courts and before administrative tribunals, such as the Contract Dispute Resolution Board, though federal court experience is a plus.
This position provides attorneys with opportunities to develop their litigation and counseling skills. The role is particularly suited for attorneys seeking meaningful public service, particularly in litigation concerning commercial litigation matters.
